So marvelous that I am making the executive decision to share it out the window with the neighborhood...:)

Yes, yes. Brilliance. Epic.

Most excellent. I give him the Order of BOB.
This should definitely be played at the most glorious volume possible!  Awesome stuff.   Expansive!  It doesn't make me want to work - it makes me want to drive through Monument Valley at sunset.

He uses a finger style without a pic. The attack of the strings are done with a unique plucking of the strings...including his thumb. It's a very smooth sound when you eliminate the guitar pic. He hardly ever "strums" the strings. Almost everything is created in this unique way. This is my best guess to why you nearly always can tell when it's a Mark Knopfler tune. I really like his solo stuff more than his Dire Straits days.

Perfect description. I was lucky enough to witness this up close…his style is mesmerizing!

How does Knopfler play that guitar so that you know it is him every time.  Could be a brand new song never heard, he plays and you know it is him.  Incredible.

Outstanding choice. The neighbors should kneel before you in grateful obeisance, regardless of the hour.

Thanks! I need the luck. Incidentally, he supplements his evil toy battle moves with honest-to-god cackles of glee, and since he plans to study military history after getting a lot taller, you all should be mildly worried.

LOL!!!  {#Motor}
You make me laugh a lot in this launch-time. Thank you!!!

P.S. Knopfler ever has a punctuation of 8 or more.

100% AGREEMENT! I'm slowly beginning to think that Knopfler and Young will never sound old to me. . .

Wish I possessed even half that ability. I can sit on the can. I can produce what the normal human body usually produces while sitting on the can. I can't write music of any sort, much less something that gets recognition.  I'd say that even if that WAS how this song was written, it's pretty far above anything you or I could produce in any of our more mundane functions.

Um, and there's never extra toilet paper in our house, so I steal the single-ply stuff from gas stations. {#Shhh}

Our heroine Cynaera, lacking in musical talents, developed other handy (light-fingered) kinds...RIP, TP bandita.
I agree, can never have enough of this man, have loved his music since first heard Sultans of Swing..
Hadn't heard this before.  Quite nice!

Yes, fellow listeners, there is no such thing as too much Knopfler!

I'm a Knopfler fan but this is the first time hearing this instrumental. Very nice.

You should check out his Soundtrack catalog... This (Wag The Dog) but also others are really respectable, like "Local Hero", "Cal" and "A Shot At Glory". There are lots of instrumentals on those soundtracks. I remember sometimes listening to Dire Straits and thinking by myself, it would be nice to just hear the music without him singing. I don't mind him singing of course but sometimes his guitar sings better than any singer ever could...

Anyway, it's worth checking it out!

While I'm getting a bit burned out on Knopfler, I can appreciate his genius.  This just sounds like it was written while he was on the can using a bic pen and some extra toilet paper.

The lead guitar sounds a lot like Dire Straights, but the drums and bass in this song sound like a horrible polka.

hearing background music while I'm doing other things. But when they play Knopfler, I immediately start listening
A bit dull for Knopfler, of whom I'm quite a fan. It's basically background music written to order, a bit like the soundtrack to Local Hero. You can tell that he's not expressing any feeling in it. No' bad, but not a patch on his real music, and goes in one ear and out the other leaving little trace of its passing. Still, that's so often the case with movie soundtracks, with a few notable exceptions.
Have not heard this before - unmistakably Knopfler.  Very nice.

Nice song. Very Knopfler/Dire Straits'ish

Boooooring.
  I thought I had all his stuff.  Guess not!
