Candy talks to strangers
Thinks her life's in danger
No one gives a damn about her hair

It's lonely down on track street
She used to go by Jackie
The cops, they'll steal your dreams and they'll kill your prayers
Take a number where the blood just barely dried

Wait for something better
No one behind you
Watching your shadows
This feeling won't go

Crooked wheels keep turnin'
Children, are you learnin'
Acclimatize, but don't you lose the plot

A history of blisters
Your brothers and your sisters
Somewhere in the pages we forgot

Take a number Jackie
Where the blood just barely dried
You know I'm on your side

Wait for something better
No one behind you
Watching your shadows
You gotta be stronger than the story
Don't let it blind you
Rivers of shadow
This feeling won't go

And the sky is full of dreams
But you don't know how to fly
I don't have a simple answer
But I know that I could ask for
Something better

This feeling won't go

Wait for it
Wait for it
Wait for it
Wait for it

This is a march.
Hard to like.
They lost me at "Are we human, or are we dancer?"

Well, it's ok because The Killers really, truly suck.
Without the diversity of this station, we wouldn't have the non-stop hilarity of the comment pages either.
Mute is a wonderful, simple tool for momentary reflection of what you've just been subjected to, and a chance for something better around the corner.

I couldn't agree more, bam23.  I saw the same performance. I absolutely do not understand the mass appeal of these guys. They are not horrible only because thay are not distinctive enough to be either wonderful or horrible.  People are drawn to RP I think to get away from all the faceless, souless, musical nonsense that dominates the airwaves.  These guys are contributors to that white noise.  A complete waste of time and stream space IMHO.  3

I think the song rating from the listeners would indicate that the mass majority would disagree with your humble opinion.  People are drawn to Radio Paradise for the incredible eclectic mix of artists and sounds.  The Killers fit in this mix whether you appreciate it or not.

Every time I hear an Elvis Costello song on RP I cringe, but I understand that he is part of the wonderful mix that makes up this station.

It's like someone mixed together Paul Simon, Killers, and Keane.

I had to search for the lyrics before I believed this was The Killers.  Different sound, but I like it.

I know nothing about this band. However, they performed on SNL last weekend and the singing was really pretty awful. I know there is a contingent of commenters here who take every chance to denigrate Dylan and others for their singing voices, but there is the unrefined, or raw, or unique style, then there is just bad and far off key, as represented by the Killers performance. The band in general seemed pretty generic and undistinguished, although they appear to have managed some radio success.

That's funny because I saw them on SNL too. Don't know if it was the same performance, and I was impressed. It made me like them a little bit more.

right after Talking Heads this song seems like a derivative.

I've seen these guys live (only once, mind you, so it may have been an "off night"). The musicianship was stellar, but the singing was pretty flat. And that's being kind. If I didn't know better, I'd swear they used a lot of "Pro Tools" on their studio recordings.

Solid 4, from here. {#Neutral}

I saw them at Lolla in '05 and I'd say the same. Flowers was consistently flat throughout the performance. The band was tight and showed good muscianship, though.

I must admit, this album is slowly growing on me.

The Killers - This Is Your Life
Talking Heads - Sax And Violins

Well, who seems "likely to change the world" anyhow?  This band has a lot of well-crafted, melodic songs; what more can anyone ask?

That intro is pretty distinctive.

This is a pretty fair album, if you're lookin' to buy.  A 7 on this tune from the middleoffreakin'nowhere jury.

Who's lacking in progression here

I'd say most of the clowns that post their self-righteous negative critiques here. They tuned in from their ClearChannel Classic Rock Station(tm), having never listened to alternative/eclectic/college radio before and are expecting to hear Freebird.

It's nice to hear The Killers on RP. And that was a nice transition from Talking Heads' Sax and Violins.

8, like most Killers material.

For me, the common link between this and Coldplay is that they both lift ideas from Kraftwerk.  This song has a keyboard riff that sounds a lot like the one from "Europe Endless".

Before this album I didn't really think much of The Killers, now I find myself getting into them.  Not sure what it is but I really enjoy the tunes.

Sounds like people are down on this because they want more of the same from the Hot Fuzz era. Who's lacking in progression here? I don't think this hits the same levels as "All These Things I Have Done" but it's certainly better than a 5.7

Lots of people have replied to this, but I happen to think that this is pretty good, and I loved Hot Fuss. A band does not have to play the same stuff on every album...look at Beck. 7 from me.

He sounds a heck of a lot better now that he's singing rather than his usual half-singing/half-shouting thing...

Sort of Keane'ish?  Maybe? Mostly the voice (although he's not quite as much a belter).
Best. Song. Ever.

I like this.

Maybe 'cause it's fun?  The lyrics are dumb, yeah, but a nice change of pace from the dreadfully earnest serious oh-so-serious singer-songwriter artistes that tend to make up a goodly proportion of the cuts around here.

I mean, I like those too, but a change of pace is needed now and then and Bill, genius that he is, seems to know this as well as anyone.

7 from me.

I'm with you.  It seems like they've just been going through the motions on the last 2 releases.  Really bummed about this latest effort - they showed a lot of potential with their Hot Fuss release.

I am so incredibly tired of the meaningless fluff these jokers think passes for music.  Are we human or are we dancer? I've got soul but I'm not a soldier?  Get a writer.

Love these guys...just picked-up this CD recently.  They seem to have a good sense of humor too.  I saw them on Jimmy Kimmel back in '07 or '08, I believe, and they did a bit where they were riding around in a station wagon with Jimmy joking about how they got their name.  Funny stuff.  Hope their latest project does well for them.  I caught their show in Tampa @ USF in for their 2nd CD (Sam's Town) and really liked their sound and energy LIVE.  IMHO, it will be hard for them to top their first release, however, as it was just that good!  {#Dance}
