I found a hair the length of yours on my sleeve
I wound it round and round my finger so tight
It turned to purple and a pulse formed inside
And I knew the beat 'cause it matched your own beat
I still remember it from our chest to chest and feet to feet
The easy silence then was a sweet relief to this hush
Of ovens, aeroplanes and of distant car horns
A fire a fire, you can only take what you can carry
A pulse your pulse, it's the only thing I can remember
I break you don't, I was always set to self-destruct though
The fire the fire, it cracks and barks like primal music
I said I knew the beat 'cause it matched your own beat
It's become my engine my own source of heat
The sea between us only amplifies the sound waves
Every hum and echo and crash paints my cave
A fire a fire, you can only take what you can carry
A pulse your pulse, it's the only thing I can remember
I break you don't, I was always set to self-destruct though
The fire the fire, it cracks and barks like primal music
and again Aug 3, 2023...
Nice follow-on to Cloud Cult The Mission: Unexplainable
Same sequence a year later.
That is my lovely Bride.
Good Band!
why do you always post this comment
Because it's actually pretty good?
c.
But they don't! There's a few more songs from this album and others that get played too (just click on the artist's name link).
And it's a nice song too imho.
Picked up 3 of their albums, oops. It all sounds just like this, gag, Musak. "Lifeboats" seems to be the only tune that is worth hearing, and even that is open to debate. This is pablum that simply occupies ear space that could be filled by so many other more talented and appealing options.

Snow Patrol - If There's A Rocket Tie Me To It
Please Bill, next song is Kashmir - Rocket Brothers??
If we do not know our history, we are bound to repeat it ... like today
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
thanks
I assume you mean that figuratively, since I'm not sure if it would help them to meet a guy who's been dead for over two years. But then, again, maybe it could.
Well, they could still meet Mr. Sculley.

sounds like biffy clyro in this song - pretty dull.
bottom line - it's 'indy music' by numbers - formula. zero originality.
I love a band that takes simplicity to the level they do. Keeping it simply but still entertaining is an art.
Bill, you've played it once too often! Snow Patrol are overrated - not total crap, but not very good.
Feelings of boredom are never far away when this band are playing... To the 'Patrol: If I did tie you to a rocket and send you off, would you take your sound equipment with you and stay out of earshot? Or just patrol distant snows quietly?

Elbow..."Build a rocket, boys..."
This. Minus the part about usually liking Snow Patrol.

Thanks for turning me on to this group Bill, they just keep coming through with good music. I think the first time
I heard them was 3-4 years ago along with PorcupineTree (for the first time) and they have become a permanent and enjoyable part of my days and nights... Old dogs can learn new licks.
Wow! I'm sure SP appreciates your kindness, being the legend in your own mind you present yourself to be.
I interpret your remark to mean that anyone who has a critical comment about a sappy, mediocre soft-rock band has an unwarranted high opinion of their own opinions, or, something like that. Not really. I was just stating my reaction to this oozing sap factory that goes by the name Snow Patrol. In all truth, I am stating a fact. It's what they do for me. They are a radio-safe soft-rock band with mediocre talent. True, I could surely not produce music like this. I don't think it matters though, becuase they produce music for people to buy and consume. I have very good reason to judge it. My judgement: it is sappy, mediocre, pleasant music, sometimes it's pretty good. Nice soft-rock fare that I will never pay money for. Not quite good enough. I bought one CD and I sold it as soon as I could. It's not exactly high art. Hey, it's my opinion, what do I know. You know what, I am not even going to charge you for my opinion. You get these little golden nuggets gratis.
Way to man up! Integrity is rare. I agree with you too. SP is a guilty pleasure for me.

At that time I would sit on my back lawn as a kid and stare up into the night sky amazed that someone was up there.
Same here.
I watched the first few Apollo moon missions - over 40 years ago - live.

Congrats to you ! This is the kind of stuff that really pisses me off.
What? opinions that you don't share? Yeah, I know. What a drag. Hell is other people.

Me too. As long as the rabbit ears were pointing the right way!
I even kept the whole newspaper section from when Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Still pull it out from time to time.

you know what?
this is REALLY good...
I was alive... but I don't remember it. I do distinctly remember a few years later when we lost the Challenger. I was watching live at school. Sorry to be such a bummer, but it is such a strong memory still. Much like 9/11 in that way. Absolutely tragic.
Raise both hands if you saw it land, live, two days later.
It was amazing to me...

Eh... Snow Patrol is ok, this song is pretty good. Porcupine Tree can be played any time of the day.
This is a true album (with one shitty song that I ignore). It seems to tell a story and this is a great one. I do not believe history will ignore this band.
That's funny because I was in the process of writing:
This is the sort of band that will always be acceptable to a wide varity of musical tastes. Years from now people will be humming along to the chords at bars, trying to remember who's song it is.

"Super generic"? Shome oxymoron, shurely? Kinda like 'extremely moderate' or 'extraordinarily average'.
This sound cannot travel in space.
exactly!
Nope!
exactly!
I tried to ask him about the name of the band, because there's a song by Alpinestars called 'Snow Patrol', and the chorus includes the line "Snow Patrol / Saved my soul". I still don't know if there's any connection though.
"And I knew the beat 'cause it matched your own beat"
Too deep for me...
Yes, you do.
Weird rhythm (try to dance)!
Great cover is all I have to say about this patrolman!
BORING! VERY-VERY BOOORING!

Lights blue touchpaper. . . retires to safe distance.
(Reference to Alanis Morissette included)
I'm sorry but there's no irony there. The fact that your son shares an occupation with the name of the band is a coincidence. You've been listening to to much Alanis Morissette.
If irony is "a state of affairs or events that is the reverse of what was or was to be expected; a result opposite to and as if in mockery of the appropriate result" (per Merriam-Webster) it seems to me that that both Alanis and the RP poster are free to consider their situations irony—it's based on their expectations.
If I she expects to get some good karma on wedding days and other big events, it's ironic if she doesn't. If she thinks fate is mocking her by letting her meet her dream guy after he's married, same thing. And if the poster expects his son to like a band with a bizarre name like Stone Temple Pilots or Shiny Toy Guns, or Death Cab For Cutie and he likes one so normal it's actually his job occupation, where's the problem in calling it irony?
Anyway, that's all I've got time for. I'm going to a concert by my favorite band: "The Pedantic Grammar Mavens."

"it's not ironic, just unfortunate"
I just think they only have that one gear...that sort of build up to a climax is omnipresent in most of their stuff...so yeah repetitive
Anthony Michael Hall and the brown-haired guy put pictures into their computer of a number of better-left-forgotten 90's bands such as Verve Pipe, Jars of Clay, Dishwalla and Creed. But Instead of Kelly LeBrock popping out of the shower, Snow Patrol plays on Radio Paradise.
A mediocre 90's band in 2010?! That's not Weird Science...that's just plain cruelty!
I'm personally not so fond of this track, but is there something wrong with liking a certain kind of music or a group?
Nor am I, as finding this group, was just another benifit from listening to RP.
Radio Paradise, expanding my horizons in music 24/7. (thanks Bill)
Here here!
The correct expression is either "what a great song" or "hear, hear."
