I've seen so many things that made me wonder
But sometimes it's hard to tell
I said
"Take your time"
But no one was listening
I walk a thin line

They told me that I never would recover
Still some say they knew me well
I said
"Stay by my side"
But no one said nothin'
I walk a thin line

And I said
"Please Turn the tide"
But no one was listening
I walk a thin line

And I said
"Fate takes time"
But no one was listening
I walk a thin line.

What an amazing band from their beginning until the end of 1974. Then they became a commercialized band of shit. This is when I click the NEXT BUTTON! Why in the hell did they keep the name of Fleetwood Mac from 1975 on???
Sing one for us up there, lovely Christine.
quick seo
A plodding beat but somehow it all comes together nicely.

A really nice album indeed.

I had two copies that I sold around 6 months ago.  A 1st press and a repress.

Still have the rips.

Lindsay Buckingham had to cancel a concert last fall in Elkhart, Indiana. "Because of illness in the band" ....still bums me out. No reschedule... I hope it wasn't lack of sales or anything sad...  Stevie Nicks sold out in Indy around the same time. I'd still rather have seen Lindsey.
One of Lindsey's finest efforts.  Inspired by a Charlie Watts drum fill on Sway (Sticky Fingers).
Lindsey wrote 9 of the 20 tunes on Tusk.  Boy genius.  Nuf ced.

Glad that RP plays the deeper cuts off Tusk. But this one walks a thin line. One of Lindsey's weaker efforts.

I believe he did make a cameo on this album albeit uncredited.
My happy place has been reached.  Thank you Lindsey.
Lindsey Buckingham is easily one of the top 10 musical genius candidates on my short list. Extraordinary consistency, never less than exceptional.

Sounds excellent in FLACK w/ K702 studio phones, great amp & DAC!
I'm one of those Fleetwood Mac listeners who has never recovered from the overexposure of Rumors. Not the band's fault and not the fault of that album. But it certainly was the fault of FM radio in this country. Once the iPod arrived and I had alternatives to the radio, I tuned into other things and went on my own musical journey. I thank my lucky stars that a friend turned me on to RP. It wasn't so much his efforts but a Denon amp that had RP as one of the Internet stations. I'm loving it so far and plan to make monthly donations!

Very thankful to still be able to turn to RP as a soothing tonic in these difficult times.
I wish safety and health to Bill and Rebecca, RP staff and families, and to all listening... hell to all who don't know any better and still listen to pop pap. *wry grin* Let's hope we all get through this.

I'm sure the pandemic will be over very soon.
Yuck
Lindsey Buckingham is God. If not, he will do until God gets here. Extraordinary musical talent and voice from the heavens.

This is an interesting song. And not that entertaining. The breaking up inside thing... that's rough.

The band was all messed up when it did this album.

Meh - still liked Buckingham Nicks and Fleetwood Mac better before they merged.
Where's Peter Green when you need him?
What a dreary piece of music - why?

We got it on 8-track for 99 cents!
I wouldn't listen to it everyday but RP doesn't do that, so it goes in my + category with a 6.

FM have some very stellar older stuff.  Unfortunately, this isn't one of them.

Lindsay's music has always been hit-or-miss with me.  This is a solid 3,

This is one of the songs that made me shelve the album and take it out of rotation.  Its hard to endure a song you don't really like on vinyl just to enjoy the rest.  Its easier to not play the album.

Lindsey Buckingham is a very good songwriter.  I enjoy the pacing of his compositions.
Such a classic album - it never gets old.

Their legitimate pop greatness was overshadowed by their horribly annoying popularity.

Deconstructed Fleetwood Mac, ala Lindsey Buckingham. Good, good stuff.

Not what Warner Bros. was expecting after "Rumors". Kudos to Fleetwood Mac for delivering a complex and decidedly non-commercial follow-up.
one of the best.albums.ever.
Tusk is one of the most innovative albums ever produced!  Love it!

In Cath Carrol's excellent book, "Never Break The Chain, Fleetwood Mac and the Making of Rumors," various members of FM admitted that Tusk is one of their favorite albums... With some distance, I think the band sees the album differently then they did in the 80s.

Even though I never entirely warmed to this double-diskt, I always respected the production quality and recognized the effort they put forth.

gorgeous song...  and this really is a fine double album...

Nice post. I think this album caused a lot of strife within the band; I saw them ca 1982 and Lindsey said something about the record and Stevie leaned in and said "The album nobody likes."

I remember though that when the single Tusk was released, they talked about how Mick spent a year working alone on the drum tracks for the album before the rest of the band was involved, so I don't think it's totally a Buckingham-dominated effort.

While I adore Lindsey Buckingham's talent, I rather resented the way he dominated the direction of this album.  So much individual talent in that band, but with one Svengali, it became a sort of quirky, sometimes incomprehensible mess.  It has its high points (I love "Sara") and its low ones (which I don't remember because they're pretty low.)

Lindsey is a fireball - talented and multi-faceted like David Lindley. He should go back to being a solo artist, because he doesn't play nice with the other kids.  (I often wonder if he's part of the reason Christine McVie left the band.)

Still, I like this song - very understated and emotional.

Interesting. With all the Fleetwood/Nicks Affair melodrama and The Breakup of the McVies distracting the rest of the band, Lindsey stayed home and tended to business, so Tusk has his fingerprints all over it. I for one am grateful. Yes, it's massive, sprawling, and leaks at the edges. So what? It's 90% pure Buckingham genius.

I'm unfamiliar with him being portrayed as a fireball Svengali—quite a description!—so I'll take your word for it.

Best song on Tusk. Oh, what might have been if the band hadn't disintegrated.

This album didn't have a chance. Following "Rumours" which was probably the biggest selling album in history at the time (or close to it) was an impossible task. All things considered it was a pretty decent effort; some have called it Fleetwood Mac's White Album. The wheels did start to come off after this, however. From Peter Green to Stevie Nicks and all points in between, has any band had more personnel changes and a wider and more diverse body of work?

At this point, they bad wasn't really even talking. This is more of a "Lindsay locking himself in a bathroom and recording an album with huge piles of blow" concept album. At least some good tunes were churned out.

Ok, but I really love 'beautiful child' off of this disc.

Yeah, I remember listening to this in a friend's dorm room at Columbia when it first came out. Critics thought that the use of a marching band (Stanford's?) on a song was dumb and that the album was a bloated mess. But I like this song—didn't remember it, but it was a welcome reminder that Fleetwood Mac has done a lot more than a handful of overplayed chestnuts.

I've never heard this song before. It's gorgeous. I thought it was Neil Finn at first.
9 at least!
These guys *still* sound new and fresh and different - FM stands the test of time, for sure.

I wish they would accept "I Know I'm Not Wrong" off of this CD.
It's got one of the coolest harmonica riffs ever.
But alas... it's not meant to be.

Fleetwood Mac - As Stevie said........"Timeless..." {#Smile}
I was a big Fleetwood Mac fan growing up and I still love this album. It was always one of my favorites. Nice to hear! {#Bounce}
