The sun is gone, I have a light
The day is done, I'm having fun
I think I'm dumb, maybe just happy
Think I'm just happy
Think I'm just happy
Think I'm just happy
My heart is broke, I have some glue
Help me inhale, mend it with you
We float around, hang out on clouds
Then we'll come down, have a hangover
Have a hangover
Have a hangover
Have a hangover
Skin the sun, fall asleep
Wish away, soul is cheap
Lesson learned, wish me luck
Soothe the burn, wake me up
I'm not like them, I can pretend
The sun is gone, but I have a light
The day is done, but I'm having fun
I think I'm dumb, maybe just happy
Think I'm just happy
Think I'm just happy
Think I'm just happy
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I think I'm dumb
I agree. Nevermind that I wasn't a fan.

100% correct, Cobain was the real thing
and no, Nirvana was not a product of the hype-machine
also it made me sick when after he died all the superficial self righteous statements about the suicide
from people who wanted to capitalize on Cobain's fame
damn shame he didn't live to record more
i was very excited when Cobain got Pat Smear to join so that he could focus more on writing
i thought we were in for some great music to come
Not just under 40 - I know plenty of musicians over 50 who are admirers of Nirvana.
You can count me in that bunch - I'm 54, a drummer, and have been digging Nirvana since 1991.
This is bull, my friend. Ask any musician about Nirvana!
They were nothing but a press-hype and of some social importance - especially after Kurt's death!
Musically there is nothing much. Truth is they have been a one-hit wonder! The rest dumb HYPE!
I am familiar with a number of visual artists who count Nirvana as very influential, no bull
I've asked plenty of musician's under 40 and they back me up almost to a guitar player, drummer, bassist, keyboard player, singer etc.
This band's influence has never waned.

Some RPers love this song and that's cool. But Nirvana's songs like this one show the bad side of this band for me. I'm more into tracks like "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
How you could possibly imagine that a huge JA fan from back in the day has not heard their masterpiece Nothing's Shocking is beyond me. Obvious is a very good song, cannot compete with Three Days, Then She Did, Of Course and Classic Girl though. Sorry. As for Porno, I actually like their second less ballyhooed release best Good God's Urge better than the first. Great songs; Porpoisehead, 100 ways, Kimberly Austin and Thick of it All are all amazing songs.
Probably my bad. I may be confused but thought you were saying the first half of Ritual was meh. A view I can't get my head around and would not expect to hear from a Jane's fan and so assumed that if you just came across Ritual then you probably hadn't heard Nothing's Shocking and that you had perhaps come across the band in their most recent and in my view inferior incarnation. I don't think there is a bad song on Ritual or Nothing's Shocking. Totally agree that Good Gods Urge is the better Porno for pyros album though. It has a real interesting vibe.
Also as it is a Nirvana song comments page I should also add that I always loved Nirvana having been right around prime age for their appearance but I appreciate them more and more as time goes on.
Are you kidding? You mean you don't get a chill from the moment the intro starts

You also seem to be claiming Stop, Noone's leaving, Ain't no right, amd Obvious are meh? You better listen again and then get Nothing's Shocking and for that matter all of Porno for Pyros.
PS How did this Nirvana song become a Jane's discussion?

Great album, but I have never heard an album with such disparaging different sides. Side one....meh. Side two.. absofuckincrediblyamazing!!
Yeah, it's like a world all its own on side 2. I think the songs are too long for the playlist here. That is the only reason I can think of as to why Bill does not play it.

Stingray,
I wanna say -you are showing your age.. Even though I have no idea what that may be. And, while every music isn't for everyone; Nirvana was ANYTHING but just another press hyped band.
Socially and musically they marked a paradigm shift, as surely as jazz, or psychedelic rock,or punk, or new wave. The late 80s were dead musically, I can still remember the day I was in a music store and first heard Nirvana over the speaker system, and thought YES! Music is back! And, it is true.
Its ok that its not your cup of tea, punk wasn't for everyone, either. That said, does not make it less significant or likable.

Time will tell...
This band was massively important, hugely influential and greatly talented

This band was massively important, hugely influential and greatly talented, the post-death of Kurt mythology notwithstanding.
From AllMusic.com
While Nirvana's ideology was indie rock and their melodies were pop, the sonic rush of their records and live shows merged post-industrial white noise with heavy metal grind. And that's what made the group an unprecedented multi-platinum sensation. Jane's Addiction and Soundgarden may have proven to the vast American heavy metal audience that alternative could rock, and the Pixies may have merged pop sensibilities with indie rock white noise, but Nirvana pulled at all together, creating a sound that was both fiery and melodic. Since Nirvana were rooted in the indie aesthetic but loved pop music, they fought their stardom while courting it, becoming some of the most notorious anti-rock stars in history.
Absolutely! We all love RP for what it brings us - but if this ain't your cup'o'tea, <PSD> - 'nuff said!
With all do respect...
I hate Nirvana.
Yeah. I don't hate Nirvana—some songs like "Lithium" still work for me—but tracks like this feel like demo out-takes and should be left in the past.
TLY.
exactly
When I hear this, I can feel how hard he tried to push his hands through the membrane into some kind of joy. Imagine gaining understanding in your life that for you, it would be impossible.

I think birdland is referring to the idea that people who suffer from depression may well be able to understand joy on an intellectual level, but they are not able to feel it emotionally; they are not really able to infuse it into their being. The certainty that the joy exists makes the inability to feel it all the more unbearable.
Nicely recovered depressive here...maybe I've simply projected my idea onto this comment. Either way, I hope it has at least some small degree of relevance.
ULTIMATE HYPE!!!!!!
Ah, the trolls are back. Is that you PhysicsGenius?
ULTIMATE HYPE!!!!!!
Your posting actually made me laugh out loud. It's hard to be offended by a comment so absurd.
I'm no big Nirvana fan, but it's obvious they can create some pretty catchy and memorable rock music - all fame/MTV/grunge fad/drama aside. Not too sure why you depise them that much. People who weren't alive during they're prime and who know nothing about them still love their music all these years later without being told to.

This is proof that heroine (at least for cobane) removes any and all talent, especially vocally. the title sums it up. Of all the stuff Bill plays, Nirvana is the only band that will make me change to other music for 5 minutes or so. I know music and art are both very subjective, but I bet we never would have heard from these guys if it hadn't been for MTV creating a new genre called grunge. I know I will catch a good bit of grief from the Nirvana fans out there and I'm ok with that cheers

Meaning?
In the uterus, like back to the womb.
Amen, and amen. Nirvana is always welcome, in this "nirvana" of online music listening (as far as I'm concerned).
Meaning?
I noticed that it was previously rejected after I submitted it. My guess is that sometimes it has to do with the timing of the submission and other times it may have to do with the note:
RP listeners seem to want more Nirvana. Here's some music to help with that...
