I love the speakers voice!  So rich, so gravelly, but for the life of me all I can picture is the pimp from Kill Bill 2.  Still, fabulous voice 😆

I  Agree!  That is why we come here.   Thanx RP!

The audio fidelity on this is strange. The high end is extremely brittle, like it was converted from 48kHz to 44kHz with no anti-aliasing.

try listening on laptop speakers! hahaha no high end issues (and would someone explain anti-aliasing to me?) Just felt like listening and looking at the lyrics this AM so didn't get off my butt to turn on the system...

7 -> 8
Makes me want a single malt, an open fire and a good book.

That's the way it was mastered, unfortunately.
Working at coffeeshops made me dislike Norah, working at weddings made me dislike Gotan,
But here at home, older. wiser,
I give all these songs at least a 7 or 8. Great musicianship with alot of care for the atmosphere.
No wonder people insisted to play them.
I'm a sucker for whatever you wanna call this hybrid of tango and hiphop.

So good!
I just bounced it up one from a 6 to a 7....

this does not sound familiar but don't I recall a Zappa tune of the same name?  is it the same tune?

Feels a tugging familiarity, checks title. Head explodes.
If you're getting married play Gotan Project on the reception and become a cliche
Not quite a Spanish Leonard Cohen (by far), but like the vocals and the overall vibe of this one.
aaaaaaaah

{#Hearteyes} this album

thanks for reminding me
{#Heartkiss}
Some Zappa Masterpieces pleeeeaaaze!

Not creepy, IMO, but I could see how you could feel that way. Who is he, anyone know, and what's he talking about? I've only basic Spanish and some of the vocab's new to me - "revancha del tango"? Good to hear Thievery Corporation getting an honorary mention, though.

What horrible screeching.
love love love gotan project - turned up the earbud loud

Just FYI, it's Argentinian, not Brazilian.

maybe they meant it was sort of "bare", you know? *wink, wink*

A glitched-up version of this would fit nicely on Radiohead's new album.

I have no idea what the guy is saying here, as with Thom Yorke.

Edit: maybe no accordion though.

Yes, it's creepy, but he can be creepy at me all he wants.

Muy bueno
I'm liking the Gotan Project in general (what I've heard).  This is pretty cool whether it's played quietly or turned up
Zappa! Zappa! Zappa!

I love Gotans version.
a friend of mine has a page about all bands connected to Zappa so if you like to read about Gotan P. go to
https://www.united-mutations.com/g/gotan_project.htm

more zappa, thanks RP!

RZZZZZ!
Admirable choice for a cover, but I'm afraid the original makes this one pale in comparison for me.
Weasels rip my flesh.

Chunga would be proud. . .

I knew that name sounded familiar!
Any Frank is outstanding, at worse! A very nice homage!

I had some of that Chunga dish at an Indian restaurant last night. Montezuma's revenge looks like a minor stomach problem after that! uuugh...
I am very pleased. When I heard the Zappa bassline my immediate reaction was "oh no! another wanker is ripping someone off" kudos to the Gotans for doing the right thing and "covering" something rather than merely ripping it off (ala Coldplay, Flaming Lips et al..) and it's kind of a nice, laid back, louche cover.
Heh. The Frank Zappa original is awesome. This is, um, interesting, but very listenable in it's own right.
Zappa!
