very cool - never heard before, will have to check it out.

Reminds me of snow patrol, not instrumentation, but in dynamic. very nice.

I never catch lyrics first time around, so if this is a very depressing song, well... i dont catch lyrics the first time around very well :|

I highly recommend the CD.  Light pop tunes with perhaps a broader appeal than Porcupine Tree.

 

Cruithne3753, fred and other British friends,

If I can borrow some jargon from media sociology, you must have gate keepers in the British rock music scene that act as a filter or launching platform for new acts like Porcupine Tree would have been in early 1990s.

Who would those be?  Is the 'model' intact?  Or is the era of digitalized music breaking down traditional patterns of popular music diffusion in Britain?

Earlier I heard this song two  or three time, I used to hum few bits of the song, thanks to RP I heard this song again, and this time I got the full lyrics for the song. Very nice song

PT were in session a couple of times on Mark & Lard's evening show back in the mid 90s, about the time they became a full band.

More recently, SW was interviewed and a couple of tracks played shortly after the release of Fear of a Blank Planet on Bruce Dickinson's Rock Show on BBC 6 Music.

Just make all your purchases from a click-through on RP ... and they will notice.  The side benefit of RP getting a small piece of the purchase is icing.   It also helps the industry recognize stations like RP as a NOT the enemy, but an invaluable channel for sell-through.

Ya I have both CDs and love em both My favorite Blackfield song is Blackfield from their debut CD. It's uploaded here but has never been played Maybe if everyone requested it Bill might fit it into the rotation... (hint)

I got this album based on the RP airplay and think it's great. I also got 'Fear of a Blank Planet' and can't decide which one I like more. You got another PT convert, RP, way to go.

If I was to judge the music by the album cover, I'd call it deconstructionist. Or simple in its composition. And it is very lush and characterizes Steve Wilson's softer, more vibrant side to Porcupine Tree's harsher, more in your face rock. An excellent album. It's nice when one of your favorite groups has a side project that also sounds great. We get twice as much material to absorb in any time frame. Nice.

I saw these guys because of RP exposing me to PT. It was in a tiny room at Berkley School of Music. I had not heard any Blackfield, and I have to say they were very good. They played this tune, and it wasn't as acoustic, way more electric guitar. It rocked.
