I  AGREE!!
Elevator music / Beverly Hills Cop
The 80s distilled into four and a half minutes.
not a bad tune but wondering about the title...i.e., what prompted it.

Big fan of Al Di Meola here.  Though when this track starts up, my first thought is, 'hey, this sounds like Lee Ritenour!'  :-)

Can't post a Youtube link here, but check out Lee Ritenour - No Sympathy on Youtube.
This reminds me to say - would love to hear (more) Pat Metheny on RP. Recently listened to his latest album - Dream Box - and it's excellent.

Maybe "messed up" here means anal-retentive about geography? Panama is not on the equator, it starts at about 8° North and goes up.

Even more counterintuitively, northern Colombia is on the same latitude as Managua.

Hey...how about some Return to Forever?

That was one helluva band, with Clarke on bass and Correa on keyboards.

YES!   PLEASE!!!
Never heard this before but I immediately thought "#80s #Africa" an indeed, it is.
Thanks!

My upload. Thanks, Bill. I hear you. Love to you, Rebecca and all my RP brothers and sisters from the equatorial paradise of Panama.

I always have to wonder, who in the hell gives a comment like this a thumbs-down?!!  Then I try to shake it off as I remember how messed up so many people are.  (Still sad, though.)

What else could it be?  I'm just scratchin' my head with you, Q-Shaman.
There are only 2 tunes by him on the RP playlist.  PLEASE ADD MORE TUNES!!  Thank You!
EXCELLENT!!  Thanx RP!

LOL! Too true!
Wow - not heard this in a LONG time! I have this album and used to really enjoy it back in the day. BTW, this album is great overall. One of my favs by him.

Fun fact: he had webbing removed from his left hand to expand his reach of notes!

So glad I heard this song -- totally forgot I owned this album. Good stuff.
Nice tune! Elegant Gypsy Suite & Casino are my favorite albums of his! ...very high energy, and will wake you right up!
This is some real 'Miami Vice' background music. Not a complaint
I feel like I'm stuck in an elevator

Just looked it up, Tony Levin on bass... nice! Bruford and Collins on drums on  tracks too... double nice.

Sorry to be THAT GUY, but this isn’t the track with Bruford and Levin.  Bass and drums lie between Di Meloa and Jan Hammer and a bank of synths.

Bruford and Levin are on Calliope, however.

Phil Collins is also on one track.
The whole album is very Miami Vice 80s. Not bad, but not really his best, for me.
Reminds me of a GRP production...but might predate the label.
Little bit of Pat Methany sound going on in this one.

That bassline!
I knew it wasn't Pat Metheny, but it's a similar vibe - not a bad thing. Haven't heard Al in many years, this is wonderful.
c.
This would make great hold music for a bank.

Perfect backdrop for some Al DiMeola.

I wore the grooves off of this.  Surprised at the low rating for such a great album.  "Casino" from the late 70's is amazing.  Love to hear something from that too.
Would love to hear more from Al. Return to Forever would also be appreciated.

Yea! My upload, finally getting some more RP love.

I am under equatorial skies as I listen. Thanks, Bill.
This was on a mix cassette a friend gave me. Never knew the name or artist. Happy me!
WOW - not heard this in years! I used to listen to this album all the time. Great surprise. Saw him live back in the day - amazing to watch his mastery!
Perfect song @ 11:30 at night!

This is the only song RP could come up with From AD? Someone please upload Race with the Devil on a Spanish Highway.
I was about to comply, but I found that Race with Devil on Spanish Highway has been uploaded and rejected, twice. Guess it's too long for most of the RP audience.
shades of miami vice :propeller.gif:
I tend to like Al Di Meola but this plays a bit thin for me.
