Time, time, time
See what’s become of me
While I looked around for my possibilities
I was so hard to please
But look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hear the Salvation Army band
Down by the riverside’s
Bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry your cup in your hand
And look around you
Leaves are brown, now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hang on to your hopes, my friend
That’s an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around
The grass is high
The fields are ripe
It’s the springtime of my life

Seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won’t you stop and remember me
At any convenient time?
Funny how my memory skips
Looking over manuscripts
Of unpublished rhyme
Drinking my vodka and lime
I look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground

Absolutely not!    Curated, mixed & frequently thematic, but always fantastic seques

Its a shame these guys couldn't work things out to continue to work together.  It seems like Art was a tad jealous of Paul's work outside their group...but who really knows.  Bottom line is they went there seperate ways and we are all the worse for it......

I just got the feeling that they were jealous of each other

Great song .  But  I'm grateful that The Bangles covered it and put a harder guitar edge on it.  Really like that updated version for its rocking tempo, but the original is also amazing.
Oh wow, I never knew that the The Bangles version was a cover....
SUPERB!!  Thanx RP!
more than a patch of snow on the ground today but turning to rain...to cheer us up?

So wistful and contemplative, always moves me...
Why does this remind me of Bugs Bunny?
I have always considered the greatest musicians to be the ones that have a lot of their repertoire re-done by other musicians.  This qualifies Simon & Garfunkel to be in that illustrious echelon.  And yes, I chair dance to the Bangles version of this tune, too, but the original is still the benchmark in my humble opinion.

but she certainly did it in a way you'd remember

Damn!  Just tried to Turn It Up with a swipe on my headphones.  Turned into a Next Song instead.   Once again, whipped by technology.

and again 0/2020!
Call me a child of the late 70's and early 80's but I had no clue that S&G had done this song...thought it was from the Bangles.....another education lessson from RP

See, I thought this was the Bangles cover when I could barely hear it...

But this is fine, I guess.

Yeah I had exactly the same reaction. The foundations are solid though.

No. And I agree. So I guess I'll see ya at the torture-fest, eh? 8O

My mom has always been into music, playing radio & LPs all day long, mostly big band, show music, and classic vocalists like Sinatra. But around the time I was six, she got this album and some Mamas & Papas records... I played this record hundreds of time on our cheap stereo. S&G being one of my earliest introductions to the music of my generation, it will always resound for me.
eeeewwwweeee

great song, but that haircut...
Breathtaking transition from Brahms.  This is exactly why I always listen to this station.
Sometimes I just have to stop the RP stream and let the last tune resonate in my head a bit longer before listening to whatever's next.   Of course, a Play It Again button could help with this problem ;)

One of my faves from these youngsters.
I'd like to hear a heavy metal cover of this song (really).

s'alright dude. I'm with you. Now I knew that S&G wrote this song, but I'd never heard it 'til now. Was that Garfunkle singing? I mean, I'd always imagined it'd be Paul Simon singing that Bangles song, but I thought this was ANOTHER cover of the song until the name and artist popped up...

I like them both, although I noticed that the Bangles remake leaves out a lyric or two... the "vodka and lime", for instance... :?:

If it is, I'm a blasphemer too. I definitely like their version better.
ok, I am musically impaired: Is this the original? Not the Bangles-version? /me scratches head
All S&G is "godlike." Great selection!

I love Bookends and this is my fave song from it. Listening to my folks tunes via headphones, under the dining room table. Ahhh.
I officially feel totally clueless ---> I had no idea this was Simon & Garfunkel!

Duh. And I thought someone else did the original. What was I thinking. That era is a bit hazy for me some times.

I find it even more enjoyable that Lionel Ritchie and Stevie Wonder are tagging along on the 'recommended album' list. =)
Damn. Where'd this come from? I've never heard this version. I like it, though. I just love Bill's little surprises.
