What he got
The others have not
He's the man
I said what he got
The others have not
He's the man

Has to be done
To be number one
When the (? is down)
He'll turn it around
'cause first there's the best
And then there's the rest
And he's the man

He's the man
He's the man
He's the man

He's the man
He's the man
He's the man

What he got
The others have not
He's the man
I said what he got
The others have not
And he's the man

Has to be done

He's the man
He's the man
He's the man

He's the man
He's the man
He's the man

First there's the best
And then there's the rest
And he's the man
First there's the best
And then there's the rest
He's the man

Yeah
He's the man

An example of MK's lesser work for movie soundtracks.  If you want to hear some inspired MK music for movies, I would strongly suggest you check-out the soundtrack to "Local Hero" (1983).  OUTSTANDING work through and through, IMHO.{#Yes}

That's the perfect way to describe this one, I think.

you guys getting kinda rough on mk. i went through the years waiting on the sequel to sultans, but i'm comfortable with him now.
omg....so sad, but I gotta agree! MK usually puts a bit more heart and soul into his music... mattt wrote:

WTF? This is like the theme song from the movie Orgazmo or something.

My best guess: Kirsty Mitchell. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0593511/ She plays the wife of the footballer in the DVD cover shot. Said footballer cheats on his wife, but he's also a big star brought in to save the struggling local team. Kirsty's character also happens to be the estranged daughter of the team's coach, played by Duvall. No idea how good the movie is...
MK wrote this song? While eating pop-corn and watching football on TV? Oh, it is for a soundtrack. That makes sense.
hmm... what's that?? This is not Mark Knopfler! I want to hear the real Mark. That's crap!
Hey same playlist...see April 30, 2007 comment...just heard Teddybear - Punk rocker...come on Bill...

Take one digital loop; run 100x times; change pitch, do same; print master; spend money.

i think "knocking on heaven's door" tops that list ... thank god bill would never play that ...

Yeah, I think so too. He's been gradually mellowing out (even during DS, just look at the change into Brothers in Arms, and then quite more subtle On Every Street). I like a lot of his newer work (love Golden Heart, enjoy Shangri-La), but the hit/miss ratio has decreased for me, and it takes more listenings to get into as well.
I'm hearing some JJ Cale

He's probably better :)

So apparently he did this one remotely. He's the man, he's the man, he's the man...whoa-k. Normally I like MK, but this is a throw-away he must have been pressed to do in his contract or as a favor. Ho hum.

Kind of reminds me of the work that Eric Clapton does for movie soundtracks.
I'm pretty sure Mark Knopfler isn't as good as Bill thinks he is.

it sounds like he worked for no more than 5 minutes writing this song. Mark Knopfler can do better, much better
Not Fair ! he spent at least 5 minutes on the drum machines alone..
Whatever Mark Knopfler touches turns to gold. Completely different style, still awesome.
