Soft hands my drug
You taste like home to me
Echoing reverberations
I am now remembering
Your kiss is a dream
Elations extreme
One step closer
I am one step closer to heaven
And now I'm never the same
Never the same girl twice
Oh no I'm never the same
Never the same girl twice
Not the same girl you loved last night
Mysterious chemistry
Someone's cookin' in the kitchen
Elixir of the pearl
A luscious berry swirl
I'm losin' some sleep
No company I'd rather keep
One step closer
I am one step closer to heaven
And now I'm never the same
Never the same girl twice
Oh no I'm never the same now
Never the same girl twice
Not the same girl you loved last night
(Not the same girl you fucked last night)
Never the same
Never the same girl twice
Oh no I'm never the same now
Never the same girl twice
Not the same girl you loved last night
Not the same girl you loved last night
Never the same, never the same
Never the same, never the same
Never the same, never the same

This was a fantastic stand-out tune on a compilation chill CD. (Remember those?)

has the Turtles' original tune's vibe - and still makes me smile when I think of the movie Howard Kaylan did "My Dinner with Jimi" - what a hoot. Great performances made a 'little movie' feel amazing. Worth a watch.
The Lightning Seeds ~ You Showed Me (Rip Off?)
This album is almost a quarter-century old, and It still sounds as fresh as the day I heard it. Supreme, indeed.
The Corrs in disguise?

Every comment I read refers to something different that the writer hears in this track - I have a different one again. I'm hearing The Cure - I think it's called Spiderman? Not the vocals, just the backing music. I like this in it's own right but I thought that's what it was when it first started.
Very Turtles-y. But I love it!

Love this tune, love their name. Such a groove. The 32nd note synth drum is also very cool. Might actually be 64th note.

Morcheeba with a better name? Still groovy.

So you want to be a cat I get such a "The Corrs" vibe off this song - and that's not a bad thing.
Too bad they didn't just do a cover of the Turtles. IMHO a much better song, and that little drum machine blast is just not for me.
Never the same girls twice . . . . just SINGS the same thing over and over.
Alright.
Alright.
Just LOVE LOVE LOVE this group.
Oh God! I haven't heard this in ages! Thanks. I think it was in Six Feet Under. That was some show. Cool band name and cool tune.
There is a short story called "Elephants Never Forgot". Perhaps someone should give it a read.
As smooth as it gets really *record scratches*
The Lightning Seeds ~ You Showed Me (Rip Off?)
Sounds like a mashup of Hooverphonic and The Cardigans. I like it.
I'm sure Flo and Eddie could use a royalty check.

Great observation. Paul's Boutique is a definite classic (Check Your Head and Ill Communication aren't bad, either, and if you have any interest in experiencing the very beginning of Rick Rubin's genius, Licensed to Ill is it). Another influential early hip hip recommendation (and glaring absence in the Radio Paradise library): De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising. Awesome.
DJ Shadow Endtroducing. Nothing but samples (and scratching, which is manually controlled record sampling so, yeah nothing but samples). One of the best albums of the mid 90s. If ya haven't listened to it, and you like either Paul's Boutique or 3 Feet High and Rising then you owe yourself a listen.
Hell, even if you hated both, you might enjoy Endtroducing.

Love the general mood and the voice but could do without the little record scratches and a couple of the other effects.

Ever listen to the Beastie Boys' album "Paul's Boutique"? That album is almost nothing but sampling — over 100 songs are sampled — and I think you'll find it's quite original. Almost 20 years after its release, serious hip-hop critics (such as Source Magazine) still consider it one of the greatest rap albums of all time, and I can assure you, it's not because of the rapping.

Loving the sneaky whispered "F Bomb"!
Nice f-bomb. Fair warning for those playing this at work.
Aha! So i downloaded this track a year or so ago, and was really grooving to it for a long while. Have since lost lots of music, and have been trying to remember who sings this song. Thanks for jogging my memory. Really dig this, think i heard it first on Veronica Mars. kinda sounds like it could be the opener for a Bond movie, though, doesn't it?
I know they borrowed from the Turtles (probably with permission), but it is a job well done.
Yummy song.

meh.
Loungy goodness, with a pleasant aftertaste. Tasty.
I love SBOL. I have this whole album and it is in constant rotation!

Garbage. No, I love it, but it sounds a bit like the band Garbage.
I hear Portishead and Skunk Anansie. What a combo, eh? :nodhead: I really like this song.

The Police' Don't Stand So Close To Me maybe? At least that's what it reminds me of. Funny how, besides that, she sings 'I'm one step closer'!
