Waiting for me when I die
But between the day you're born and when you die
They never seem to hear even your cry
So as sure as the sun will shine
I'm gonna get my share now, what's mine
And then the harder they come
The harder they fall, one and all
Ooh, the harder they come
The harder they fall, one and all
Well, the oppressors are trying to keep me down
Trying to drive me underground
And they think that they have got the battle won
I say forgive them Lord, they know not what they've done
'Cause, as sure as the sun will shine
I'm gonna get my share now, what's mine
And then the harder they come
The harder they fall, one and all
Ooh, the harder they come
Harder they fall, one and all
And I keep on fighting for the things I want
Though I know that when you're dead you can't
But I'd rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave
So as sure as the sun will shine
I'm gonna get my share now, what's mine
And then the harder they come
The harder they fall, one and all
Ooh, the harder they come
Harder they fall, one and all
Hey, the harder they come
Harder they fall, one and all
What I say now
What I Say now
What I say now
What I say, one time
The harder they come, the harder they fall, one and all
The harder they come, the harder they fall, one and all
Why do statements about personal preferences or feelings get humiliating replies? Bugs me in these chats. Love to hear other opinions. Makes me more thinking what exactly I like and why.
No one is wrong when it comes to what music they enjoy. You can share the things you love with me. Love to hear new voices.
I guess ignorance isn't bliss.

I finally watched the the movie last night after loving this album for all these years, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hah, I thought this was my comment
Great movie with an excellent soundtrack.
'Rockers' is also a great movie out of Jamaica with some heavyweight musical performances from the 70's
It was from the early 1970s, it was not Top 40.
and it was not crap...
May I mumbo dog space to the banana patch?

Hey, that's an old Steve Martin joke from when I was a kid!
Give that kid a special test, get 'em outta here.
That's my non-nostalgic rating...8 for now until something causes the +1..LLRP!

you go dog faced to the angry banjo salad?
The stop motion effect was not intentional but it did add to the video!

Yowza, trying to understand how this sentiment finds itself listening to RP at all. But in these post-Trump days I will be patient and tolerant.
LOL!
Except it ain't Post-Trump. President Trump is just getting started.
P.S. This is a great song.

Yes - let's hear Peter Tosh! Saw him in concert once - absolutely awseome
I second that
Wow! Nice Find!
I've seen a sh**-load of photos of "The Golden God" in his hey-day through the years, but never this one.
I think we finally found the true inspiration for this cut (if there was any doubt):
Same shirt plus Physical Graffiti promo billboard as time-stamp.
He was probably listening to Jimmy Cliff right around the Houses of the Holy / Physical Graffiti recording sessions (which were a bit mixed together, if I recall correctly)

totally agree! Maybe embarrassing to admit, but my number 1 dishwashing album.
I am going to try to remember this advice next time that happens to me. I will let you know if it works.

Eeekkk!!! JJ's good, but not that good!

Maybe RP could put aside the Jimmie Cliff and Bob Marley for a while and pull out the Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, and Toots among others.
No worries, they are in the rotation too. But if you think any of them are/were as sublimely influential as Marley, well, its not even close.

Me too, brother (or sister, as the case may be).
This is reggae before the stoners and the Church of Marley got hold of it.
One more to add: see him sing it in his rec room accompanied only by a bass player on the video archive at EMP in Seattle. Sings his heart out even then. Converted my too-cool-for-school teenager to a Jimmy Cliff fan on the spot.

I can match all but one of your achievements - I have not yet seen the movie. I shall, though.
Well then, you just may like this extreme close-up of Joe wailing on a sax in '82.
cool movie. amazing that the Jamaican speaking accent (Jimmy's too) is so strong as to require subtitles (done in white on the VHS version i saw in the 80s) but singing is clear as any other English speaker.
I saw the live theatre version this week in Toronto and didn't like it. Maybe the fact that there were no "party favors" was part of the problem.
I'll have to see if I can lay my hands on a copy of the movie.
Hmm, I saw the movie when I was in Toronto a long time ago. Certainly part of the charm was the Jamaicans in the audiance talking at the screen. I don't think it was a perfect film, but well worth seeing and gave me some appreciation of the cultural context.
I FINALLY got the movie this week from Netflix!!! Almost TWO YEARS after I put it on my queue!! Patience rewarded, as this is a great movie!!
Thanks for playing this song, Bill!!
They showed some clips of it on Monday night before's Jimmy's H-O-F induction...Ya MON!
This verse is from "The Guns of Brixton" by the Clash, which played a couple hours ago:
You see, he feels like Ivan
Born under the Brixton sun
His game is called survivin
At the end of the Harder They Come
Hmm. Same thing today: "Guns of Brixton" 3 hours ago. Is BillG recycling whole mornings and not just sets? (Not that there's anything wrong with that....)

It's a pretty good movie. However, unless you're from "Rastaland", you'll probably need to watch it with English subtitles to follow the dialogue. Unfortunately, I didn't have that luxury seeing it in a theater 30 years ago, but I remember loving the music anyway.
I watched it again on DVD with said subtitles a couple years ago, and it all came back (& then some).
Wow. Over a year later and Netflix still reports "availability unknown".
This is why some people step over the line and download stuff. The bastids. They all are gonna go to Hell
Every time you download a movie Baby Jesus cries and is given medication to calm him down. If he's to whacked out on ADHDdrugs to save the world it'll be the fault of people who download movies.

He would have cranked up.

Statements like “Reminds of early 70's top 40 crap” get humiliating replies because they're more like covert insults than considerately formulated opinions. There are better ways to express one's dislike of a song.
