Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs
I feel like a newborn
And I feel like a newborn
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
I feel so real
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Yeah
I don't believe in
I don't believe in
Your sanctity
Your privacy
I don't believe in
I don't believe in
Sanctity
A hypocrisy
Could everyone agree that
No one should be left alone
Could everyone agree that
They should not be left alone, yeah
And I feel like a newborn
And I feel like a newborn
Kicking and screaming
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Yeah
Hey, Dad, what do you think about your son now?
Ah, hey, Dad, what do you think about your son now?
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Could you wanna take my picture
'Cause I won't remember
Yeah
Ah, hey, Dad, what do you think about your son now?" ... that part is so good, I give it an 8.
Quoted from another site; "the lead singer is afraid of flying. To calm him down one night the band got him wasted on the flight. He started dancing around and taking off his clothes acting like an idiot. One of the band members started taking pictures so he would remember what he'd done in the morning. The part where he says "hey dad, what d'ya think about your son now" refers to the fact that the band mailed the nude photos to the lead singers parents as a joke. The song was just a tribute to a fun spirited memory. (found this out at a Filter concert)"
Thanks for this. I always wondered...

The guitarist was a regular at a bar that worked at, super nice guy, and told this very story to me. Said it was quite an event as one could imagine. Lucky for Ritchie it all happened pre-Sept. 11.
Always loved this song, but always bugged by that one clunky lyric, "Could you wanna take my picture..."
The lyrics listed here have the word "wanna," which it what it sounds like he's singing. But other lyrics posted online say the line is simply "Could you take my picture" without the word "wanna," which makes a lot more sense. I think that the latter is correct, without the "wanna" and it just sounds like that word is there because he drags out the word "you" so that it sounds like "you-wa."

Supposedly, he was hammered at the time.
Thank you, Bill!

Eh? I think we might be listening to two completely different songs?
1. I like it (which doesn't count, that's subjective, but just so we establish that).
2. War of the Worlds? Parody? What in the alien heck, over?
Thank you, Bill!
me too. i like it a lot.
Thank you, Bill!
and I don't wanna give you my number

Sadly, if you have precious information to keep, you shouldn't trust anyone else to look after it. Check the link now ...

Not my favorite song, but certainly among my favorite RP commenters —
I admire the enthusiasm she showed for what she found enjoyable, and the way she expressed it without denigrating anyone else.
Now there's a tune I can endorse.
10.
wait! she's gone? what happened? :(
Check the forum topic about her passing away. In includes a note from her brother, and a link to an obit. Subdural hematoma. Very sad.

I think she passed away in early 2012. A stroke I believe.

I be the holy ghost of big stud Romeo Tuma... we miss Cynaera so much...
everybody in my mushrooming multitude of homeless camps loves this song... we love this classic video...
Ouch- disagree completely. No soul, no meaning, no band. Stick with the original, IMHO.
This was a staple at the bar where I met my wife. Pretty sure it was playing that night. So kids, the takeaway here is that you should use birth control when you take a girl home from a bar.
Joking!
Sasha, you incurable romantic...
Still miss you so much, Cynaera...
love this song...
This song is truly magnificent... love it...
bump
It's a promotion of censorship in the worst way.
F*ck this song, and anyone that promotes censoring free speech.
Whatever you're on, I don't want it as it plainly causes paranoia. The lyrics are below (minus chorus to save space), and I'm fecked if I can see any "promotion of censorship", let alone "in the worst way":
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
My skin is bare
My skin is theirs I feel like newborn
And I feel like a newborn
Awake on my airplane
Awake on my airplane
I feel so real
I don't believe in
I don't believe in your sanctity your prophecy
I don't believe in
I don't believe in sanctity or hypocrisy
Can everyone agree that no one should be left alone
Can everyone agree that they should not be left alone
And I feel like a newborn
And I feel like a newborn (kicking and screaming)
Hey dad what do you think about your son now?
Seriously, please expand on this because I read the lyrics and they are mostly rambling gibberish.
Well, I suppose that's one step above authentic frontier gibberish . . .
Holland? Hope you had better luck than I did.

What the hell are you talking about?
i was wondering the same thing!
me,too. I hate that I like it.
Love the gentle lyrics and the easy rhythm of the guitar during the verse.

Could segue into Turning Japanese very easily.
I think that I, and probably every other 30-something around here, is dancing around the room to this right now, feeling a lit bit nostalgic...
Hey, may be some older folks too. Just cause we get older doesn't mean we start listening to Lawrence Welk.
Though the rheumatism may slow me down a bit sonny....
i am jealous you are near Zabar's!

Indeed.
Definitely more tolerable than much of the crappy, 'popier' stuff out there. The epitome of "meh"?
"Take a Picture" also features Patrick's petulant taunt: Hey, Dad, what do you think about your son now? Patrick's father was offended by this line, but Patrick explained to his father that each time he sings the line it has a different meaning because Patrick changes the tone in which he delivers the line each time it's sung.
And that changes the meaning how?

Jelani, you are just wicked. I think you're a kindred spirit. And yeah, I got the reference. I have actually HEARD people say, "Jesus H. Christ on crutches!" (I always hoped they were inferring that the "H" stood for "hope," but I would have settled for "Himself," or "Horace," or even "Holy-crap.")
I just love this song. I have it on a CD in my Sidekick, and whenever it plays, I have to listen to it over and over. I never seem to get bored with it. Maybe I'm simple. Maybe I'm lame. But I know what I love, and I love this song.
Speaking of Kindred spirits...

Uh, and what do you propose for the "move on" portion of the program? And by the way, Jesus didn't have a middle name.

nice to hear this come up in the rotation.
Agreed!
This song is good for the ears...
Dude, you really need to come up with a new comment for songs.
Well, uh, hi neighbor!
hello my fellow Kentuckians (from the beach in Florida)
I agree. Though I reserve my 9's for something "truly" outstanding. 8 for me.
