Tattva, acintya bheda bheda Tattva (4 times)

Like the flower and the scent of summer,
Like the sun and the shine,
Well the truth may come in strange disguises
Send the message to your mind.

Tattva, acintya bheda bheda Tattva (4 times)

At the moment that you wake from sleeping
And you know it's all a dream,
Well the truth may come in strange disguises
Never knowing what it means.

Tattva, acintya bheda bheda Tattva (4 times)

For you shall be tomorrow,
Like you have been today,
If this was never ending,
What more can you say?

What?  Everybody knows that.
Wicked pissah! Besides shared musical taste William and I both had the hots for Hayley Mills. Here's where I caught the fever at age nine:

OH damn you BillG!  I just had to re-bump my already bumped rating; 8→9 now. And more fallout from this song - I've mentally added Ginger Baker in the cast of Reservoir dogs (as Mr. Ginger, of course!!) and he's in the backseat while Mr. Orange and Mr. White discuss robbing Jewelry stores. Mr. White ends the scene with "I'm hungry; let's get a taco."

LONG LIVE RP!!

Despite your hesitation, typing Ginger Baker made a taco into Google  will take you directly to  an entry  crediting it as misheard lyrics to Tattva.  Be well, O Lizardking!

Ginger Baker does not make toco's ... sorry.
You're most welcome!

I must say that this band seems a bit much now considering the times, but in the 90's they were pretty groundbreaking... Everyone in my mushrooming cloud of churchy-templeness is grooving to RP's greatness!

Ahhhh, the first song I recognized on RP that I've only ever heard on RP: the nth time I heard it , I had that irrational sense of belonging due to recognition. The first time I heard it, I was weary with much more to do--it was a godsend. Hmmm, exactly where I was--and where I am, tonight. "Who says you quit when you're tired?" "I do." "Who says you keep going, no matter what?" "I do." "What's the difference?" "I'm not sure, but one thing's for sure: it's not how I feel. When I give in, the tiredness seems to grow stronger. When I don't stop, I choose first, and then the very idea of tiredness disappears."

What?  Hope it worked out.

Fred, you have contributed many useful and interesting comments regarding music on RP but since you have chosen to step into the cultural debate then you are fair game for reply...

Being English does not mean living in England any more than Modern Scotland (whatever that is) says that anyone living in Scotland is a Scot.  Politically Correct Billy Bragg nonsense!  Indigenous people trace their heritage and genetic makeup from narrow genetic groups.  In England that might be Angles, Saxons or Danes.  In Wales many are descended from Celts.

When Bill Goldsmith thinks of London he, rightly, thinks of the descendants of the people who left to live and fight in the American colony 200 years ago. The same characteristics of English people are found in many white Americans - that is why we are so culturally close and have a 'special relationship'.  I think that's what he meant by as 'not exotic'.

The problem is the term English being used both as a cultural description and a passport Nationality.

If we separate the two then things become clearer.

Ah, ethno-nationalism rears its unpleasant head, though in Brexit Ingerlan you're in tune with the zeitgeist (sic). Well, O Anglosaxon one, Celts were in the island that is now Britain for millennia before those Johann-cum-lately Angles and Saxons piled in from Germany after the Romans took their ball home. As a Mick and thus a Celt, I reckon that on a 'genetic' basis I'm a native and the rest are immigrants, not "indigenous people". Bleedin' anglosaxons, come over here, rape our houses and pillage our women, take our lands, bring their smelly foreign food (cont for 94 pages...)

The very definition of "English" is fraught politically, socially, legally and economically.

Better late than never. It is an all-time classic album, and IMO Kula Shaker's other works paled into insignificance in comparison. It had the unusual wrinkle of being a rock album by English white guys into Indian mysticism, and has some quite moving tracks. The band's flame glowed very brightly for a short period before burning out. The Wikipedia history is illuminating.
Good stuff. I'll be checking this album out.

The cover art (by comic-book artist Dave Gibbons) consists of various images related to the letter K, including: John F. Kennedy, Lord Kitchener, Karl Marx, Gene Kelly, Katharine Hepburn, Ken Dodd, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Danny Kaye, Kal-El (Superman), Boris Karloff (as Frankenstein), Krishna, King Kong, Martin Luther King, Jr., 2 Knights (a pair of Keys on one of them), a Kettle, Kali, the Kaiser, Nikita Khrushchev, Grace Kelly, the number 11 (symbolizing K) and Rudyard Kipling's book Kim.
