If the radio is really old, its version of WiFi may be the bottleneck causing the slowdown. I wonder if you've set the quality of the RP stream to Ultra or FLAC and your WiFi can't keep up. 

Listeners on RP or William and staff should be able to offer insights into how to increase the size of the buffer for your RP stream. A larger buffer would help prevent some hiccups in the stream, I'm guessing. 

Are there any updates available to the software or firmware that comes with the radio or the modem? Some compatibility issue may have cropped up. 

Also—do you like the Sangean otherwise? I'm thinking about getting an internet radio for some people who pine for their favorite, now too-distant radio station. Do you recommend the brand in general or do you think other companies make better internet radios? 

I have an older Sangean internet radio. Recently it started having some problems streaming RP. Can anyone let me know why this might be happening? My internet is fast and rock solid.
