"Foxcatcher" Slow-moving and dreary. Yes, the theme was going to be a dreary one going in, but...there just didn't seem to be any redemptive value at all for any of the characters or any big catharsis except for the dreary one. Two hours of my life I'll never get back. I didn't think Steve Carrell was all that great, either. Don't know why he was nominated for an Oscar.

True, the story in her book involved sex and it involves some threat to her as she hikes. That could've been connoted tastefully in the hands of a good director.

This could've easily been a PG film that we could've enjoyed. Instead, it was "Hollywood" at its worst, with "brave" Reese being so bold as to parade her naked body periodically. It was unnecessary and annoying and the message of the book/movie was completely lost in the mess. Yes, I like the female form. This, though, was cheap and vulgar.

Recommendation: don't.

Wasn't swiss family robinson, that's for sure. I didn't read the book beforehand but I definitely wasn't expecting the young adolescent girls' version of My Side of the Mountain. I suspect with an R rating it wasn't meant to be that kind of Disney style movie, but an adult one (more like Into the Wild)

I thought it would be along the lines of "Capote" but no - just nothing redeeming at all. Just a bunch of no-good, despicable characters.

And it was almost as if someone said, "Hey John Cusack, how would you like to play one of the most loathesome, disgusting, disturbing characters ever? " and he said, "Sure! Sign me up! "

It would take watching "Say Anything" about a hundred times to erase the mental images I have of him now.

That would be enough to completely erase your memory(not to mention make you poke your eyes out)
