Don't be afraid of me
I'm what you need

I saw you on the screens
I know we're meant to be
You're starring in my dreams
In magazines
You're looking right at me

I'm here around the clock
I'm waiting on your block
But please don't call the cops
They'll make me stop
And I just wanna talk

Bet I could change your life
You could be my wife
Could get into a fight
I'll say, "You're right,"
And you'll kiss me goodnight

I waited on the corner 'til I saw the sitter leave
Was easy getting over and I landed on my feet
I came in through the kitchen looking for something to eat
I left a calling card so they would know that it was me

I tried to save you but I failed
Two fifty thousand dollar bail
While I'm away, don't read my mail
Just bring a veil
And come visit me in jail

I'll go back to the diner
I'll write another letter
I hope you'll read it this time
You better

The cops around the corner stopped me when I tried to leave
They told me I was crazy and they knocked me off my feet
They came in through the kitchen looking for something discrete
I left a calling card so they would know that it was me

It was me

I memorized your number, now I call you when I please
I tried to end it all, but now I'm back up on my feet
I saw you in the car with someone else and couldn't sleep
If something happens to him, you can bet that it was me

thought with this album my interest in sis and bro Eilish was flying out the window for lack of dynamics, but now every time it comes on I find it's growing on me, at least this song is..... Once again we will see where this goes

And for those of you questioning their musicality: check out that documentary The World's a Little Blury --- yes a laptop is used, but their musical background/education/experience, imagination and perfectionism are right up there with all other "real" musicians, make no mistake about that
Hey, say what you will but she's the success of her generation.  She's been racking 'em up hasn't she?  So all us old farts can go pound some salt.  That's probably how she'd express it if she even bothered.  That's if you bother to complain, which I don't.

Each generation pursues their life, their art, their muse, as they see fit.  Just like mine, ours if there are other old farts here, did.  I won't harrumph.  I can't, won't, be critical since it harms nobody, and certainly seems a lot of fun for what it is.  Music set to her generations beat.  They're just doing it their way.  Wait....somewhere....I think there's a song in that one?  Heh!

Calling her a musician is a crime to actual musicians. This is just laptop shite with beats. That's it. Lyrics are meaningless mumble reverb. Compare her to any random Joni Mitchell ditty.

I respectfully disagree.  I studied classical piano as a child, and was a professional pianist and keyboard player through my 20s.  I'm now studing composition for a masters, and I do almost all of my writing and recording on a laptop (well, it's actually a desktop but that's not really the point).  While I find her delivery a bit indistinct, in purely musical terms this is no better nor worse than any number of songs from the era when Joni Mitchell was in her pomp.  Comparing any songwriter to JM is always going to be a losing strategy, since (for my money) she's the Greatest Of All Time.

It's very interesting how they've worked in built in fan promo stuff to the song itself.  Gotta give Billie and her brother Finneas credit for that one.  Evidently the phone number at the end of the song when dialed is answered by a recording and when entered into WhatsApp will enable them to send further promo stuff to their fans.  Crafty...
So, The more I hear of the Eilish kids, the more I like. The Vocoder stuff gets old until you Listen to it as another instrument instead of Lyrics sung electronically.
Thanks for keeping me hip!
I always seem to like her stuff.  This was likable on pass one.
New BE! Cool!
