Empty cup and a can full of marigolds
Half-burned candle, a picture pinned on the wall
Letters, records, and ash on linoleum
Signs of life, the beginning, the beginning, our beginning, begin again

I was bare, and your word was still warm in my hand
I was bare, wanted all under heaven allowed

Snubbed-out smoke in a pack from the Nowhere Inn
Water glass with the smudge of a lipstick stain
Box of nails, olive branch, and the holy ghost
Leave the rest, but come back for the marigolds
The beginning, the beginning, the beginning, still ahead

I was bare, and your word was still warm in my hand
I was bare, wanted all under heaven allowed

Give it all away, you give it all away
'Cause the whole world's watching you
Give it all away, you give it all away
'Cause the whole world's watching you
Give it all away, you give it all away
'Cause the whole world's watching you
Give it all away, you give it all away
'Cause the whole world's watching you

Her recent performance of running up that hill for Kate Bush's rock and roll hall of fame thing was on point.
I find myself really appreciating this album much more than some her past work. I also have come to appreciate some of Kesha's new stuff, which I would have never expected. RP has shown me that I can grow as a listener and enjoy the growth of the artists on here as well.
Weird, I know, but the album cover looks like she has a horses head to me.

This is the best song by St Vincent that I've heard; that said, I've tried to like her music because clearly she's serious about her art and the reviewers seem to love her.  But her music doesn't really touch me, for the most part - she's a trier, but that's not really enough.  Plus, I've heard no evidence that she's the 26th greatest guitarist of all time.

EDIT:  I've since heard a few tracks from this album and it's growing on me.  I don't think I'll ever be an out-and-out fan, but I do appreciate her art.

That's why we come here.

To discover, and sometimes, and eventually, to expand our horizons.

Sometimes, after trying something new, we just say "meh", but that's not a bad thing.
Cool tune and a very RP song. Thanks!
Yesterday's eve I had the opportunity watching her on french ARTE Concert. Great!
7 -> 8 on second listen

This sounds like an AIR song 🤔
Outstanding atmosphere & production.  The guitar on the second verse.  The trippy second half.  As good as any new song I've heard this year.  Fantastic.
This thing sneaks right in and takes off, doesn't it? All her new stuff is really blowing me away. It seems that she is on a good roll now. Love that pic:  DANCE ON FIRE, AS IT INTENDS! Thanks, RP, for the HOT turn-on!

Sometimes her music is more head-music than heart-music, spending more time on the sound design than the feel, both of which, for me, are important parts of a balanced diet.
For more feel, and for a good example of her unique approach to guitar, check out Cruel, from her 2011 album Strange Mercy.

The album is pretty good all round, this is not my favourite song on it, which tells you how good it is., I recommend.

My first first comment after all these years.

Very dreamy.  Hitting a good spot right now.  We'll see how it sounds the next time around.

7 first listen.
