The world's turned upside down
Jimmy Finn is out
Well how can that be fair at all
Lenient
The song the lawyer sang
Our nation's wrong
Well how can that be fair at all
Repented, changed
Aware where I have wronged
Unfound corrupt
This song the jailor sings
My time has run
Sound the victim's song
The trial is gone
The trial goes on
Sound the victim's song
Everytime Radio Paradise plays something off of this album, I give them a $20.00 donation.
You don't become poor, presumingly?
PS: May Mark Hollis Rest in Peace!
This site is a goldmine for great music, and playing Spirit of Eden is the proof of that.
RIP Mark Hollis

Putting the "gift economy" to work for you! Excellent!
I love this song...new to me through RP. Until this I only knew about Talk Talk's "popular" songs played on commercial radio, which is probably why I never pursued them. Shame on me, and kudos to RP.
Their popular songs "It's my Life" and "Life's what you make it" were enough to draw me in. Brilliant songs, proving commercial success doesn't preclude a song from being extraordinary.
what ten was made for
may have to put the album on
Just kicked the Average up .1
Every time I play this album...yes album, it just takes me on a different journey. A top 5 album of all time!

Sounds like bribing, see you in court!
Pure brilliance and spiritually moving ✌️
The entire album is a masterpiece. A rare 10!
One of these days BillG should just play the entire Spirit of Eden album. A "deep tracks" format late at night would be incredible.
Agree. Except this isn't fm radio in Cleveland or wherever. "Late at night" isn't fixed across the whole RP listening audience. Maybe Bill could add world time zone channels :-)
Each time I hear this tune,I stop what I’m doing and marvel at the musicianship,a pure and brilliant 10.
I agree. Had to bump it from 9 to a solid 10.

It is a great album, I agree, but when is late at night for you?
Timeless and hauntingly beautiful!
I AGREE!! First time that I heard this tune. Thank You RP!
So deep. How music can trigger certain emotions still amazes me. Talk Talk were masters at it.
Wow....I haven't heard this in a while. Spine-tingling!

That's $140.00 so far this month!!
I have to agree, not that I don't like the song, but it does seem like I hear it every day here.
Your imaginations I thinks, but you do caveat your comment with 'seem' so I'll let you off ;-)

This is THE most frequently played song on RP, I think. At least lately.
I have to agree, not that I don't like the song, but it does seem like I hear it every day here.
Which in my book merely reinforces my view that they are one of the top 5 bands of all time.
It's certainly up there, largely because their work before and the one album after sounded nothing like this ephemeral beauty.
RIP Mark Hollis.
Excellent quote. It says more about his feelings about music than about the general state of the musical world. Personally, a background stream of instrumentals takes the edge off the tinnitus.
One should never listen to Mark Hollis as background music. Ever.
I always loved this comment and every time I hear the beginning notes I go in my head "This is my church call"
You played one note like no other, Mark. RIP.
Wow, at 6 plays for this, 3 for Eden and 4 for I Believe in You in the last 30 days on the Main Mix alone, you're in for $260. You are a die-hard RP supporter indeed!
In the SF Bay Area, I hear this and other Talk Talk songs played in stores quite often (at least relative to the expected frequency of such an event). Evan as background, it has power.
I will say that over the years I would search for more and more (band info, Mark Hollis info, music, back stories, etc.). So little info in public about this great band...but isn't that how Mark Hollis really wanted it? Less can be more...how refreshing. Resulted in what could be the best band nobody's heard of (or remembers).
I should have taken more time for this.
R.I.P. Mark Hollis, you will stay great!
Music isn't about a destination, it's about a journey.
That's too bad. while you are waiting you forget to enjoy the ride...

I'm totally with you - would segue perfectly, especially with the 'drugs' comments!
I'm with you on this one. Ditto Talking Heads
Don't worry about you not liking them. Your taste is your taste, and my taste is mine.
I think this tune is really, really good. I can see folks objecting to the vocal timbre, but the instrumental work and overall atmosphere are outstanding.
This one is perfect for those mellow after-midnight sessions with a good Scotch.
I had no idea about this until I saw this post, what a great shame. Mark Hollis and the rest of the band are one of the greatest musical talents to emerge from the UK . Always recognisable but totally unique. What an amazing legacy of tracks he has left behind.
That's a great idea ! Talk talk donation ;)

When this song starts to play - I get a Pavlovian response for the Miles Davis tune that typically follows it. "Doo-Bop"
I appreciate you pointing out the patterns in the algorithm. Power to the hive brain!!!
Could not have put it better myself. Why we have listened to RP for 10 years or more.
Mark may have passed away but RP will ensure his music will live on.
And it needs to in the 3 minute sound bite music world we now have in the 21st Century.
True, but the "three-minute song" format has existed since the beginnings of recorded music; it is not an innovation or deviation of the 21st Century.
I'm pleased to report that all your dribbling has not been in vain. From one 10 to another.

Such a Shame you feel that way.
