Where's the love song to set us free?
Too many people down
Everything turning the wrong way round
And I don't know what love would be
But if we stop dreaming now
Lord knows we'll never clear the clouds
And you've been so busy lately that you haven't found the time
To open up your mind
And watch the world spinning gently out of time
Feel the sunshine on your face
It's in a computer now
Gone to the future way out in space
And you've been so busy lately that you haven't found the time
To open up your mind
And watch the world spinning gently out of time
And you've been so busy lately that you haven't found the time
To open up your mind
And watch the world spinning gently out of time
Tell me I'm not dreaming
But are we out of time?
We're out of time
Out of time
Out of time
Out of time
Out of time
Too many people down
Everything turning the wrong way round
And I don't know what love would be
But if we stop dreaming now
Lord knows we'll never clear the clouds
And you've been so busy lately that you haven't found the time

The video of the girl on the ship makes me cry. Such poignant imagery.
Listening to this a lot the last couple years...
That background sound make my skin crawl. Like nails on a chalkboard.
Damon Albarn is a genius, then and now.
Timeless - amazing that this was released in the early 00's.
Oooh waited long for this one.
One of the most beautiful songs Blur ever made

I looked at my phone to see what band this was, and was genuinely surprised to see that this is Blur. Not at all in keeping with my impression of them from way back. Good song.
Definitely one of the very best things Blur did! Wasn't mad keen on the album, but to go in that direction with no Graham Coxon was a bold move - and probably sewed the seeds to Gorrilaz and all that
Simple & so Beauty
Simple, raw, beautiful.
A real gem of a tune.

I keep waiting for the tune to switch over to 'Mr Tambourine Man'
Announced yesterday that a new Gorillaz collection is in the works. Yes. Albarn is a stone genius.
Honestly like this tune for some reason.
horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love this song. great album.
Think Tank is a very very good album. Listen to it. :)
This song is annoying. I thought I had two different (competing) audio streams going on my computer.
I thought this was gorillaz at first. I had to dig to find damon's name...good stuff.
Wicked cover art. I'd love to find a print of this.

There are a few songs where David puts on a kind of tired, very English vocalization that sounds like this. Thinking of Repetition from Lodger as the best example.
However, over 44 years of recording, Bowie has used more varied vocal styles than he has stage personalities.

Banksy = Genius
Can I just add that I saw Blur perform this at Glastonbury to 75,000 fans and it was rather splendid? There. . . done it.

Really sick of this song—gets worse each time it is played
Thought it sounded like the Arctic Monkeys
Seems like every time I listen to this one I like it better. 6 -> 7 today!

COOL! I love The Current Vernacular. They're touring with Wheezer right?

Great song, shame about the video - the mock reality-tv bite about life on an aircraft carrier didnt really gel. And Graham Coxon can do a lot better.
Completely agree. I get weak when I listen to this, but the video is a huge disappointment.
Love this song, the love song!
The best song Neil Finn never wrote.
that's disappointing to hear.
but yeah, i love this song. this guy's voice just does it for me. i've always enjoyed blur.
the best song on this not so good album
This just keeps growing on me...A well crafted tune that says just enough to be meaningful without preaching.
This sounds just like Ron Sexsmith, a Canadian who was acclaimed by Elvis Costello.
what ever happened to those parental advisory stickers?
True lyrics.

Never really followed these guys

This is the first time I've heard this song--I'm kind of liking it. I think I might like it better if it were a bit more peppy.
Really well produced. Heart-breakingly beautiful song.

I don't know. Why are you thinking of Paul Weller? Do you have a Paul Weller fixation? Maybe you need to talk to somebody about this.
Why am I distinctly thinking of Paul Weller?
I really like this song, and Damon's distinct voice makes it even better. Blur never disappoints me.
not a good Blur song - bland - but i suspect its huge in Europe !!!

Bowie, Jack Bruce...ok. Also, let's throw in the Zombies while we're at it.
Decent tune, but it doesn't go far.
Damon Albarn has always come up with great melodies, and this is another.
radiojunkie wrote:

There! That's it! That's who I was trying to place - Jack Bruce! OMLOG, thank you for clearing that up and sparing me needless agony.
Bowie-esque, yes, but I'm also hearing a big Jack Bruce influence.
I am not a big Blur fan, and found the Oasis v Blur Britpop duel of the mid-90s especially tiresome.
This I like. I also like everything that I have heard from Damon Albarn's various un-Blurred projects (Gorillaz, 'Reykjavik 101' film soundtrack) enough to say that here is a guy worth keeping an eye on.

Grows on you - I just bumped it to 10
I still remember these guys from the Madchester/Baggy days ala Charlatans, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, etc. My how they've changed since then. Then again if they hadn't they'd probably be long gone like most other Madchester bands.
Darkmatter wrote:
.... Blur singer Damon Albarn explored quite a lot of west and north african folk music before recording "Think Tank" with Blur ... :)
Albarn also either wrote or assembled the soundtrack for the film "Ordinary Decent Criminals," that was an excellent mix. However, I've only seen this soundtrack for sale as an import and they wanted like $30 for it. A little too pricey for this kid. Nontheless, the songs on it are terriffic.
Yes !!! I love this song. There is just something about it. Blur sure has grown up, huh? Woooo Hoooo
I'm fooled into thinking this is a Bella Fleck tune every time this song starts to pour through my speakers... right up until the vocals start, then from that point forward I don't hear any Bella Fleck... hmmm...
