Nothing I can say
You'll do what you want to
You'll go your own sweet way
You'll go your own sweet
Your own sweet way
You'll go your own sweet
Your own sweet way
Now I can talk to you serious
I can talk to you nice
But when it comes to love
You won't take good advice
You'll go your own sweet
Your own sweet way
You'll go your own sweet
Your own sweet way
It doesn't matter what I say
What I do or what I think
You can lead a horse to water
You can't make him drink
You'll go your own sweet
Your own sweet way
You'll go your own sweet
Your own sweet way
A great album and really difficult to get hold of these days if you ain't already in possession of it.

there may be something to this
Not to mention the guitar playing!

and JJ Cale...
Hmm, Mark Knopfler... is he famous?

Don't think he did very well for himself - I've heard he was in dire straits

Definitely my loss...
Oh feckless youth....
Anybody know who's on pedal steel? Love anything by Knopfler anyway but steel makes this number.
Paul Franklin (pedal steel)

Just used the Google machine: Paul Franklin on steel.

Nobody tell him... 🤣

Also, the guitarist playing slide is killing it on this track. Anyone know who played the slide on this? Knopfler as always so good.
Oh Paul Franklin, caught it the notes! Answered my own question!
The Beatles. Sarah McLachlin. Lana Del Rey. Just to name a few.
The Beatles, yes. Sarah McLachlin and Lana Del Rey - not even close. Artists on RP sorted by monthly plays as shown on Dec. 6, 2021:

This was one of my go-to auditioning CD's when reviewing speakers for many years. Great track, great album
Took your advice to move to the couch between the JBLs and enjoy this cut on the FLAC stream....so smooth and great production.
use PSD the majority DO like it lol

LLRP!!
"They gave their first performance at a small club in Leeds, and followed up with a tour".
I wish I were there for that first performance.

I came across this album by accident. What a gem. The guitar work is so amazing.
Yeah, agreed, it's the only track that he sings lead on, and wrote himself, so makes sense...but also makes it the best track imo
Still a big 9 for me.

thanks RP!
+1

The Notting Hillbillies was a country rock project formed by Steve Phillips and Brendan Croker withMark Knopfler, who was then lead guitarist and singer of Dire Straits, and Knopfler's bandmate Guy Fletcher.
Aaah, yes, I was convinced it was Mark. Thanks for checking into that.

Someone should nudge the Goldsmiths to consider adding their work. Did not know that Leo Kottke and Chet performed together on "Prairie Home Companion":

Can't tell you why but I make an mental association between Mark Knopfler and Joe Montana. :)
Fits my definition of a "CLASSIC"...
CLASSIC: Good the first hearing, gets better with return visits. Always a welcome visitor over the years and decades...
Never has been overplayed to reach burnout... Whole album is nice and welcome in the mix...
Thank You

Perhaps it would be a good time to stop reading Sprudge and spend more time just chillin'
This - and a lot of the Notting Hillbillies CD - is genius. You'd probably better off going back to top-40 radio.

Huh? Like Knopfler's a guy, and I think the metaphor falls apart from that point.
Falls apart or becomes hilarious depending on how much imagination you're willing to put into it!

I'd buy your novel, or even a collection of your short stories.
Thank you, my friend, for your kind and encouraging words.
Maybe that is my call and I have been ignoring it for a long time.
Be well!

Exactly what happened today to me. Sweet tune. A solid 9.
