Stars shine like eyes
The black night sighs
The moon in silver dreams
Falls down in beams
Light of the night
The Earth a purple blaze
Of sapphire haze
In orbit always
While down below the trees
Bathed in cool breeze
Silver starlight
Breaks dawn from night
And so we pass on by
The crimson eye
Of great god Mars
As we travel the universe
Wow.
I just assumed it was Robin Trower, very 'Bridge of Sighs'- like. Who knew Black Sabbath was more than just 'War Pigs'?
Nice.

Is War Pigs the ONLY song you know by Black Sabbath? Trower? Not even close. Try listening to Sabbath's tune, "Fluff". You will be blown away.. You are welcome.
Thank you so much Bill for the great tunes.

a comment like that could make some people paranoid

It's hard to cover this song, so I think only Pantera did it properly.

They should have done more numbers like this.

Solitude
Changes
it's alright
for me these fuckers are numero uno!

Solitude <3
I thought this was Ten Years After.
This is way before Ozzy becoming a clown.
Only if you tell me where all my odd socks have gone?
:) "Was a typo. It was meant to be Calm."
I never have found that cassette. A shame, really.
Absolute laugh riot @ '70 posting....!! 🤣 Good times....gr8 days, those.....
"Solitude" on Masters of Reality is close (another "chill" song)
I'm with you on that one. Had them autograph this album for me back in the mid 70's. Still have it and still gets regular spin time on the turn table.
Wow! A Black Sabbath song I like in a non-ironic way.
Really?! For me, it drained all of the energy out of the room.
Play this song at 45 or better, 78. It sounds like freaky aliens on drugs and you can still make out the lyrics.
I think I still have a cassette somewhere with this. Great for parties.
I never have found that cassette. A shame, really.
I'll never forget it...magic.
you and the horse you rode in on...
"Does not sound like a typical Black Sabbath song... which is a plus, for a lot of us."

Ozzy is actually pretty good when he focuses on the music and not being OZZY. The band actually got good reviews on there last tour.
Really like this mellow side of Black Sabbath. Shame they didn’t pursue this direction.
Actually they did on some later albums. There are some of those tracks I played for some friends and I asked "do you know what band this is" and they could not recognize Black Sabbath.
So true. Great trippy/mellow vibe

Agreed.

Exactly. This is a classy number.
changed from a 2 to a 5 after learning, surprisingly, this was Black Sabbath.
I always thought Sabbath and Natalie had a lot in common. On some of their tunes one can barely tell them apart. This is a cool groove; Tommy Iommi is a better guitarist than he's generally been given credit for.
oh go on play 'Fairies Wear Boots' please, go on, pretty please . . . ?
oh well, guess i knew you wouldn't
PRETTY PLEEEEEAASSE?!!!
would be super right

This sounds pretty decent. BS had a huge influence. The influence on me was fleeting I suppose....
Mine too. I always wondered why they did not do more stuff like this.
Sounds great on clear vinyl also...
yes indeed!
We sail through endless skies
stars shine like eyes
the black night sighs
The moon in silver trees
falls down in tears
light of the night
The earth, a purple blaze
of sapphire haze
in orbit always
While down below the trees
bathed in cool breeze
silver starlight breaks down the night
And so we pass on by the crimson eye

The U.S. release of "Paranoid" was held up until January 1971, because the first album was still on the charts (at least in the U.K.). The band was only formed in 1969.
THAT was Black Sabbath? Who knew???

Hah! (At least now we know the voice was supposed to sound that way!)
Never really occurred to me before how cheesy the cover photo/art is.
was that good!
Song sounds to me as being from 2010!
JUST AMAZING!
EDIT:
I try to imagine how many million more albums
they could have sold - had the COVER not been so
ridiculously STUPID!!!
yes, probably one of the most boring songs i have heard. i was just actually telling SO that when i bought this vinyl in 1972 i would pick up the "needle" and move it to the next song "iron man". i always skipped this song since i first bought the record and still do.
Another one in my time capsule ... have forgotten how good these guys were!
Is it just me, or is this comment some kind of existential black hole?
