We sail through endless skies
Stars shine like eyes
The black night sighs

The moon in silver dreams
Falls down in beams
Light of the night

The Earth a purple blaze
Of sapphire haze
In orbit always

While down below the trees
Bathed in cool breeze
Silver starlight
Breaks dawn from night

And so we pass on by
The crimson eye
Of great god Mars
As we travel the universe

Shout out to woozurbuddy!
"Laguna Sunrise" would be nice, following.
I'm sure there were no drugs at all involved in the creation of this.. Nope, none, nada, zilch.
Hanging out in the kitchen getting a buzz and cooking.  My husband says, oh wow, is that Black Sabbath doing Planet Caravan?  So cool....
I "grew up" in the age of Black Sabbath and there is an entire catalog of work that still rocks my now "old" soul.  But for some reason, this song always sounds as fresh as the first time I "tripped out" on it, so to speak. Like others, I would have loved to heard more of this side of Sabbath, but eternally grateful for this one.

Nice.

Is War Pigs the ONLY song you know by Black Sabbath? Trower? Not even close. Try listening to Sabbath's tune, "Fluff". You will be blown away.. You are welcome.
Again it's RP which introduces me to a song which has existed for 54 years and which I have not yet heard in the 46 years that I exist.
Just chillin with ano resize spliff and listening to this fabulous track with memories of that golden age
Thank you so much Bill for the great tunes.

ABSOLUTE GODLIKE! 😎
This song's only flaw is that the guitar solo doesn't go on for twenty minutes.
Bloody masterpiece!!
It's hard to cover this song, so I think only Pantera did it properly.
Wow.

Wow! What a stunning deep cut from the Black Sabbath catalog! Thanks Bill.  (The whole album is great as well! Can we hear more?)
THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE SONGS that my buddy Mike and I used to like to put on the stereo right after we got home from high school, mid- and late- '70s. We'd be sunk down into the beanbag chairs, staring at black-light posters, stoned as we could be, and loving this surreal jam, unlike anything else by this band... Thanks for this, RP!
Scores high in the "Haha, bet you didn't guess it was us :-)" category. Great complement to what we expect.
My favorite Sabbath song, sweetness
Wow.

I thought this was Ten Years After.

This is way before Ozzy becoming a clown.
Dig deep in to the Sabbath catalog Bill it's OK with me!

Wow - such a classic Sabbath song.  Well done, Bill!!

That guitar outro could go on all afternoon long, as far as I'm concerned.
Anyone know where I could find a Black Sabbath Tshirt?
Tony channeling some Garcia?
Ah, that guitar outro!  Just magical...
Just listened to Ozzy's 2020 album. Sounds pretty frigg'n awesome, along the lines of Diary of a Madman'

truly beautiful
From the  most excellent Planet Caravan to Edie Brickell? Oh man, what a buzzkill!

I'm with you on that one. Had them autograph this album for me back in the mid 70's. Still have it and still gets regular spin time on the turn table.
They should have done more numbers like this.
Any y'all read I Am Ozzy? Good stuff!
lush

Wow! A Black Sabbath song I like in a non-ironic way.

One of the great advantages of vinyl is you can mess with the speeds.

Play this song at 45 or better, 78. It sounds like freaky aliens on drugs and you can still make out the lyrics.

I think I still have a cassette somewhere with this. Great for parties.

I never have found that cassette. A shame, really.
Nice to hear some more obscure tunes from old favorites

I remember the first time OV came over to jam at my house. I told him to bring some percussion instruments.  He backed his pickup up to my garage, and it was filled to overflowing with all manner of things to beat on...a trap set, various other drums, a couple of suitcases of miscellaneous metal and other kinds of objects for different effects, you name it.  Once we got him more or less all unpacked and set up, he handed me a lyric sheet for Planet Caravan, asking if I thought I could figure that one out.  I think I first worked out the guitar part to that song around 1976 or so.  I didn't take long for a fast run through, then we dwelled on it for a good while, OV trying out different sounds with his menagerie of percussive items.

I'll never forget it...magic.

As others have commented.  Trippy.  Wish that had done more of this stuff.

Ozzy is actually pretty good when he focuses on the music and not being OZZY.  The band actually got good reviews on there last tour.
RP doing me proud again.
These blokes are way too mellow. Will never make it.

Actually they did on some later albums. There are some of those tracks I played for some friends and I asked "do you know what band this is" and they could not recognize Black Sabbath.
Wow Bill I thought I was on the wrong station, this is wonderful thank you. Their latest recording "13" with Ozzy has a song that is quite close to this, check it out King of the master mix.
Great Song,  also without Ozzy on the mic!{#Notworthy}

Exactly.  This is a classy number.
I was in jr high when I got this 8 track.  I don't think I was ever the same....

changed from a 2 to a 5 after learning, surprisingly, this was Black Sabbath.

I always thought Sabbath and Natalie had a lot in common.  On some of their tunes one can barely tell them apart.  This is a cool groove; Tommy Iommi is a better guitarist than he's generally been given credit for.
fantastic album  awesome tracks

Sweet track!
wow, cool… perhaps we can hear more early Black Sabbath? please  : )
{#Good-vibes}
When I bought this album in early 1971 at the tender age of 15, there were stacked piles of the album on store shelves.  I listened to it obsessively for almost 3 months and then suddenly stopped.  I never played it again and did not bother following Black Sabbath or similar.

This sounds pretty decent.  BS had a huge influence.   The influence on me was fleeting I suppose....

Bought this album when it came out... Thanks for the refresher.

Holy mother of god, am I hearing right? Thanks for playing this masterpiece!
It doesn't get much better than this.
It's a good song. Prefers the Pantera version though. The lyrics by Anselmo are clearer and not as spaced out as Ozzy's.
Dorm room:  towel under the door:  very smokey:  listening to Planet Caravan:  hypnotic:  fast forward to watching Ozzie stumble around in the only reality show ever worth watching.  Strange days, indeed
Black Who?
I liked Paranoid a lot when I was in high school. Listened to it a lot and I'm amazed this song was on it. I don't remember it at all.

The U.S. release of "Paranoid" was held up until January 1971, because the first album was still on the charts (at least in the U.K.).  The band was only formed in 1969.

WOOOOW!
For those of you surprised by this track, I highly recommend you check out Black Sabbath (the 1st album) and listen to Paranoid straight through. There is truly something special about these albums and the breadth of sound and style they convey, while still being distinctly Sabbath.

THAT was Black Sabbath?   Who knew???

Sorry, wait, that was SABBATH?
Love it.
Ozzie...Is that you Ozzie?

So unbelievably mellow and heavy all at once..  A bit more of Black Sabbath's lesser-played tunes please!

Never really occurred to me before how cheesy the cover photo/art is.

I love this song! From italy
Prefer the cover by Pantera, but nevertheless a great song!
Sabbath Rocks!!!!!!
Perfect song to chill to while wrapping up the work week{#Bounce}

I like it...suprised that it's Black Sabbath.
Had ABSOLUTELY no clue that SABBATH
was that good!

Song sounds to me as being from 2010!

JUST AMAZING!

EDIT:
I try to imagine how many million more albums
they could have sold - had the COVER not been so
ridiculously STUPID!!!

yes, probably one of the most boring songs i have heard. i was just actually telling SO that when i bought this vinyl in 1972 i would pick up the "needle" and move it to the next song "iron man". i always skipped this song since i first bought the record and still do.

I would have sworn this was Robyn Trower, it sounds just like 'Bridge of Sighs'. Not a bad thing.

Another one in my time capsule ... have forgotten how good these guys were! {#Devil_pimp}{#Chillpill}
