Here's to the babies in a brand new world
Here's to the beauty of the stars
Here's to the travellers on the open road
Here's to the dreamers in the bars

Here's to the teachers in the crowded rooms
Here's to the workers in the fields
Here's to the preachers of the sacred words
Here's to the drivers at the wheel

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin, let the day begin

Here's to the winners of the human race
Here's to the losers in the game
Here's to the soldiers of the bitter war
Here's to the wall that bears their names

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Let the day begin, let the day begin, let the day start

Here's to the doctors and their healing work
Here's to the loved ones in their care
Here's to the strangers on the streets tonight
Here's to the lonely everywhere

Here's to the wisdom from the mouths of babes
Here's to the lions in the cage
Here's to the struggles of the silent war
Here's to the closing of the age.

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Let the day begin

Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Let the day begin
Here's to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin, let the day begin, let the day start

Sounds like Bruce Hornsby & the Range?
Excellent! I love the BRMC cover of this too.
such wonderful homage 🎸

did not know that -- but there's some mighty fine DNA action in those sounds
Not one for me. Very wooden rhythym.
Just saw that they have some new stuff out or to be soon.
Had no idea.

But there is a lot to learn there: think about bacteriophages, coming out from there! The answer for antibacteriotherapies in our elaborated west.

I had a grumpy post about them before because the lyrics seemed like a commercial, but this band does have chops.  When the Walls Fell Down is amazing.  Did anyone before them think of using the start of the major scale as a riff?  I can't think of anybody.

The Walls Came Down
From the excellent album Modern Romans. Be glad you own a copy because it’s very difficult to come by and not available on any streaming service.
This track was perfectly placed in the Cosmic Consciousness episode of RP2050. I believe it was my beautiful wife Crystal who introduced Josh, the Audio Shaman, to The Call. They’re a favorite in this house. Actually, every track in that cosmic episode was transcendent. I wonder who introduced Josh to each of them?
Great transition from the Jerry Garcia remix!
I thought this was a Back Rebel Motorcycle Cub original - Thanks for schooling me, RP!
What a lazily written song.
excellent music by this band. Love this song. Easy yo play too just have to Rock it Truly.

Some people don't like your comment but I give a 10!
They're so good they could be british! Seriously, this is a great song 10.

I say the same thing about all of the European and English music that I have been introduced to on RP.  Porcupine Tree, Elbow, John Martyn, The Staves come to mind quickly.

Bill and Rebecca do such a marvelous job.  There's no place like RP !

Holy crap, I have been listening to this song for years and have always assumed it was The Who or solo Pete Townsend. I can't be the only one.
GOOD MORNING WORLD!
I agree too!

i can't stay in a bad mood anytime i hear this song.

that's pretty awesome. thanks for letting us know!
This confounded me. The Black Motorcycle Club… Yep.

Not at all.  Michael's wife (widow) is a minister and much of their music has a hopeful outlook.

How did Al Gore lose the presidency  with this song as an anthem? Oh that's right.  He didn't. The Supreme Court of the United States elected George W. Bush. The people mourning in foreign lands would have had nothing to do without Bush.
Super song. All the best RP.
I'm certain this observation's been made. This song is a great way to start the day.

Great obesrvation...
I keep boosting this one every time I hear it...
How ironic that every time this song comes on I can't listen to it because I'm about to walk out of the office and go home...  The day is ending.
10 ---->11!
No apologies necessary for this fine rocking song! Let the day begin, my loves!

Had to turn it up a bit to realize it wasn't Huey Lewis & The News. But it was 1989, so, close enough.

Plus, the song suggests he's telling people, "here's to you, laborer. You get a song. Now get to work!"

I was lucky in that I first encountered The Call working their MTV New Music Tour show as a stagehand at an on-campus concert hall at the University of Louisville (Red Barn if anyone is curious) (yes, back when MTV played *music* (I know, right?!?)). The show had the distinction as probably the loudest I had ever worked. Their sound guy actually caused a brownout large enough to trigger alarms at the university's physical plant and public safety offices using the Telarc 1812 Overture for tweaking their PA. Good times, those.
Anyone else notice how much he sounds like Pete Townsend?
This guy will drink to anything. These days he might be called an enabler.
Here's to Michael Been. May he rest in peace. Cheers!
Here's to The Call.
Such a great song, the definitive rock anthem. I'd love to have seen this performed live back in the day.
Fantastic segue, Bill and Rebecca
Son and Father
I LOVE RP
Why the heck had I given this a 4? Must have been in a bad mood. Upped to 7.

I'm really curious as to what this guy thinks "cynical" means... because these lyrics are nearly saccharine.

When Jordan, an experienced 190 operator, answers the call of a teenage girl being kidnapped, discovers that the criminal is a murderer who traumatized her. She then decides to take charge of the case. THANK YOU BRAD ANDERSON

RIP Michael Been.
