The whole situation sucks. You could try posting to reddit r/sonos. There is one Sonos employee monitoring it and maybe someone else has some ideas. Aside from that, maybe keep trying. There seem to be random errors that sometimes resolve themselves.

The android app does seem to be slowly getting better. The bad news is that I hear there are some problems with the new headphones not complying with charging standards so you can't use higher wattage chargers. The push to release the headphones was apparently the main reason behind the release of the crappy apps and the crappy firmware upgrades. Along with changes that seem to be made to poise them to move to a subscription service rather than just supplying hardware that works.

Thanks for that!  I forgot to mention I’m on iOS 17.5.1.  I’m now working around this by playing RP on my phone then air playing it to Sonos.  Not ideal but at least I can use the skip function I now can’t live without and the TuneIn stream doesn’t provide

I've done this several times and always the same result.  Anybody have any tips?

I don't know whose issue, or even, if it's an issue.  Maybe the feature no longer works after the new app was released.  Just inquiring about it.  Scrubbrush posted a similar inquiry a couple years ago.  Link to it.
  1. Playing Sonos Gen1 with Favorites on my home network (yes, too cheap to spend $1,000's on new system).
  2. Open browser and navigate to Music > What's Playing.
  3. At the bottom in the Drop Down should show Sonos with Favorites playing, but it's no longer working.  This had been working as recent as last week.
  4. Stopping and closing the Sonos app and opening the Android App to Favorites, then opening the browser and navigating to Music > What's Playing shows 'android app' in the drop-down and the Favorites that are playing are listed.

It's working again.

I've had no issues with the new Sonos app...streaming RP channels, Tidal, various radio...I dont have any downloads/internally stored music.

ooof

iirc they were whinging for a while about Alexa et al. stealing their ip about how to set up multi-room streaming

If the new app weren't so borked I would be thinking it's a last-gasp attempt to position themselves for a buyout. If it was, I think they screwed the pooch.

Here to report that I can play RP through the just released Sonos app.

Just about nothing else works except streaming, and many people are having problems with that. They estimate they will have a fix so I can play music from my music library in a month or so. It is unclear if it will be able to do it without an internet connection.

One of the main reasons I only have one speaker is that I thought the old app was crap. They have outdone themselves.

Oh, and they forced the update to the new apps and you can't roll back to the old ones. CEO says users are a bunch of whingers.

Yes, the "new" headphones with sound waves.   The old instantiation had the classic round RP logo, just odd.

I used those links to add it back in and it down works.  This morning when I restarted RP this morning it now has meta data.  Woo-hoo!

Now the only thing annoying is when I click on it from the Sonos Favorites button, I get a voice advertise for 30 secs and then it joins RP.  Since I can't remember how I added RP to Sonos 2ish years ago, I haven't poked around at looking for it on tunein or sonos radio to avoid the ads.  That said, the add only happen once when I hit the play button and then RP plays continuously.

Thanks,
Ron

Just to follow-up.  If you add RP with the URL on Sonos, you will get a 20-30 sec advertisement every time you hit play.   However, if you add RP as a "music service" and authorize Sonos to use your RP account, no add and you get the album  covers as well.  Everything is now back to normal. ;^)

I deleted the the current channels and just pulled the URL link off the site an added it manually.   I got a weird voice add or two for about 45 secs and now it back to playing.  However, the song information no longer appears in the sonos app.  (grrrrr).

I'm sorry. We had an outage with one of our servers that broke RP across most devices. It should be restored at this point. Please let me know if you continue to have issues.

We are sorry for the short outage!
