Okay, I struggled with where to put this and had to discard my first pass because it got to sad and mopey.
We went to Pete Townsend this weekend as a getaway. We stayed right down the beach from where Mike and Cathy lived. I've had these commemorative stones for several of our pets for years and never quite known what to do with them. Like all of you guys, we are also missing Mike & Cathy. They were great friends and had been in our estate plan for decades with various duties no one ever wants, but they were happy to step up to. Consistently, they held the position of entrusted guardians of our furry kids left behind. I always knew they would do the right thing for them if needed. So in that spirit, we have left a collection of the fur kids to wander the beach with them. We found a nice spot with one of the 'beach couches' - a big one for their big hearts. We know we leave them in good hands, and hope the cosmos brings us all together again eventually.
Here are a couple of pics. The weird one is Lenny doing his Malinois impression and climbing the logs.
Entrusting them all to the cosmos. It better not let us down. Lots of the coves around there get those big logs, especially this season That more solid one in the background ~ 6 foot diameter. Would hate to find it with the keel. The well worn one had nice little spots to put the stones. When we walked back by later, some one had hung a frisbee on one of the branches, so it felt like the cosmos was listening.

I am missing BHD something awful. This is the time of year when some of us would converge at the Labs (PNW) for Thanksgiving. For many years. It's surreal to think that'll never happen again. Ever.
And we are all making our way through our "Year of Firsts" without her (first TG, first Xmas, first birthday, etc.).
Hobbit, if you see this - know that you are being sent lots of love and light.
I was just thinking about how much I miss her the other day. I also send love and well-wishes to Hobbit.

Did she? Funny, I don't remember that. I do remember one of my first memories of sharing a (virtual) chocolate fountain with her and a bunch of other peeps back in the heady days when the internet only seemed limited by our imagination. It was pretty intoxicating. She invited me over to visit the PNW a couple of times but I never quite made it. Chalked up to one of life's regrets.
