I believe studies have shown that increased presence of military-style clothing and weapons among domestic LE officials has increased their levels of aggressiveness and violence. The use of masks and lack of ID badges decreases the need for accountability and respect for the law.
It really does feel like a dress rehearsal for the end of American democracy.
Not to be picky but five months would be roughly 150 days. A decrease to only 47 days is a lot less than roughly half. But predicable given the gross incompetence of those running our country.

A neighbor witness said at first the agents were shouting "Move! move!" as they walked toward Ms. Good's vehicle... but suddenly starting to demand she get out of the car as they grew closer. ICE agents became confrontational, as if she were an inmate escapee. This guy deliberately placed himself in front of the vehicle which is against law enforcement procedure. I wouldn't have known wtf to do either.
Yes. The NYT analyzed the available video and put the relevant part on its front Web page. AFAICT the trouble started when two cops pulled up in an SUV and inserted themselves into the situation. You can hear conflicting commands coming from different LE people.
This happened to me when I was mugged in DC right around the start of the COVID lockdown. I was the victim left at the scene when the cops pulled up and started yelling at me to do different, conflicting things. I think I had my hands in the air as I yelled, "ONE VOICE! I need one voice telling me what to do and I'll do it."
Things proceeded smoothly after that but it was a bit dodgy for a bit...
