I spent two winters north of Texas in cold country, and that was enough for me. Experienced lake effect snow in Erie, PA, where we went to a movie with no snow on the ground and when we came out there was close to a foot, and it was still falling. Then the next year I experienced -65 degree windchill in Des Moines, IA. I called relatives in San Antonio in March and they said they had gone swimming that day, and I was standing in a phone booth still surrounded by snow. I decided there and then that that would be my last foray into the northern climes, and moved back to Texas shortly thereafter.
We lived West of Cleveland in the late sixties. My most striking memory from that period was seeing frozen waves on the shore of Lake Erie.

I used to love winter, but not anymore. Working outdoors the last 21 years is the reason. I've often dreamed about moving south, but not too far south. Don't think I could handle Texas heat. I got a chuckle out of your phone booth story.
Currently -13C. (+9F)
Windchill factor -23C(-9F)
Fortunately temperatures will at or above freezing the next 6 days.

Weâve been having an extended Springtime in Colorado now into January which is historically been the coldest month of the year including sub-freeze temperatures & the random blizzard. But hey, climate change is a hoax, soâ¦. What me worry? ð¤·ââï¸
JustineFW and I went down to Jackson Hole for their silly "Set the World Record for Skiers in Jeans" event. Over 3000 people turned up in denim; the previous record was apparently about 120 or something. It was a beautiful dayâhighlighted by this Sun Dog! That thing lasted for over an hour; we could see it from the valley floor as a sort of rainbow around the sun, but from the top of the lift we got the full circle, both dogs, and rays coming off all 3. Everyone getting off the top of the lift just started reaching for their phones... these are not camera/phone/photoshop things, you can actually see them just like this. By the time we got back up for our second run of the day, it was over.
