I have an induction moka pot for the van, and a portable induction cooktop, but the moka pot is too small to activate the induction cooktop... had to go back to butane for my morning joe.

North for a bit. We made a big loop through Idaho,Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Oregon to see a bunch of people we hadn't caught up with for far too long. Did some family stuff and a little business. I'll be south at the end of the month for a bit, and we are planning the long winter at the southern retreat again. I've also made some progress on the tropical project that will probably require a trip next year. Somehow cleaning up lose ends has become a lot more little projects...

heat powered espresso maker. They are a staple in every Italian kitchen for the last 75 years.
Sort of a mini percolator, but it doesn't cycle, just uses steam pressure to push water through the grounds once. They make a seriously good cup of coffee.
I use ours with a little butane burner, but got one that works with induction as I was planning power for the van. I have the power and an induction cooktop, but the moka pot is too small to activate the induction. I still got my coffee, just not per the plan.
Edit: Moka pots are cheap and fun. If you like coffee you owe it to yourself to try one. It's slightly more hassle, but if the power fails and you have a flame, it's a handy backup too.

Justine's in the big city so I called around to find one, and the only places (there are several) who have them in stock won't sell them to retail customers. Gotta have an account. If it were me, I'd hang out outside and ask someone going in to buy me one, like a kid at a liquor store....

Yep. For the record, these NSF posts are not bureaucratic, they're essentially on loan from universities around the country. The government pays for research that may not have an immediately obvious benefit; things that a private funder wouldn't pursue. But maybe talking about bees vs climate change was too woke.
